Default Thoughts on Supers and High End in binder pages?

I was reorganizing my collection the other day, and one of the ways I organize my Vandy cards is based on guys who are in the Bigs, MiLBers, and current/future Dores. I was moving my Kevin Ziomek and Casey Weathers cards into the "retired MiLB-only" portion, and decided to put my superfractors of each into binder pages. They're in the middle of the page.

When I was doing this, I thought, hmm, what does the BO community think about the practice of putting high end cards into pages? I mean, these have very diminished value now, and I'm fairly certain no one else would ever really want them. But they still are superfractors, and I did spend more than I care to say on them. I don't think being in a soft sleeve and a binder page, stored on a shelf endangers condition any more than toploader and in a box. But I just like flipping through them and seeing them all in once place, I dunno.

Is this weird? Am I breaking the superfractor rules? Does anyone else store high end in binders?

What is the big deal with binders? Why are they such a bad thing compared to other storage methods? Do they do something to the cards? I have binders with cards from 95 that still look like they did 20 years ago.

As long as you're using the proper pages(spend the $ on the good ones) and plan on keeping these cards in your pc until eternity- I think it's a great idea for viewing enjoyment!

I remember a guy that I knew many years back that had his entire Mark McGwire collection in binders. I remember the 1996 Mirror red/blue/gold on one row. It was beautiful.

Well, while we are at it, what are the best binders and pages to use? Are there pages that fit toploaders in them? This is the way I want to keep my Yankee Topps Now collection. Not concerned about selling them ever but would like to keep them in great shape.

I’ve thought about migrating the bulk of my Indians Refractor collection to binders but always struggle with buying supplies instead of more cards, haha.

Similar reason I have several high end guitars, but only bad, tiny amp, haha

I be afraid over time moisture might cause the cards to stick inside the binder pages, and even if in the middle of the page, possible damage from movement or ?? As for high end, I would not even think of doing it, lol.

Would this not happen to cards in top loaders too?

Seen one too many cards creased in binders due to improper binder closing for me to not cringe at this idea.

I dunno, I think I value uniformity too much.

I do remember hearing from someone whose collection got flooded. the cards in toploaders were ruined but binders were fine.

I get the most expensive pages at the LCS--couldn't tell you which kind of ultra pro, though.

I will be your first order!

Make them so you can fit 9 cards on the page, only similar product I have seen fits only 4 or 6. I dont care if the binder is 3/4 inch taller and longer than the standard binders.

I see nothing wrong with it if you like it. I have plenty of cards in binders.

I tried to move my Puckett collection to binders and just couldnt do it. It is an either all or nothing deal for me. My base cards get the same treatment as high end. I've decided either they are all in the binders, or all in toploaders and perfect fit sleeves. I just couldnt bring myself to put my high end stuff into flimsy pages. Currently they are all in toploads and perfect fit bags. Would love to put them in pages that way. I have some graded as well, but have duplicates of most of those, so having a seperate binder/box for those doesnt make my OCD flare up much.

It would be nice to be able to flip through them from time to time. They just sit in boxes and are not easy to look through. The day I can go to the shelf and grab the Topps binder and see every Puckett Topps card I have in sequential order will be a good one for me!

All of my 1/1 and /5s or less that are autographed are in top loaders in my safe. They don't go into binders.

I have 10 Notebooks full of cards and binders. Granted they are wax era junk, but included a couple Henderson RC's amongst others. Destroyed value due to continuous handling, closing, improper handling by others, storage methods...

No thanks...

I think binders are awesome, but ALL my cards are either top loaded or one touched, because binders scare me, lol. I don't like the binding it causes on the pages when you sit them upright.

There was one neat looking binder system that people were trying, which had each in its own container. I considered it, but as I want everything in order, it would drive me nuts to find an unchecklisted variation of a card, and have to move EVERYTHING over just to fit the card in.

But now that you're an adult and you'd be handling them correctly, not putting them in and out of pages constantly, closing the binders properly and storing them properly, would it be a bad thing? Do the pages actually cause damage to the cards (paper loss, discoloring, etc) or is everyone just afraid of putting them in pages because we were all idiots when we were kids?

I think your fine as long as they are not thick cards.

Main thing to remember, which I think is getting over looked. These are maybe $20 supers, if that. Were not talking about $500 cards.

(not knocking you, I think I tried to buy the weathers auto a year or 2 back. I bought like 10 supers from the guy selling like a hundred)

I don't put anything /25 or lower in a binder. Just too risky, even just sliding the cards in binders for the first time I have dinged many corners! Penny Sleeve + Top Loader + Team bag for most my lower numbered stuff, if it's real nice, mag one touch.

But if your talking 500 cards or Scott Kazmir, Steve Slaton, Michael Bowden, Casey Crosby and Corey Wootton. Is it really worth it to Bag/Tag all those?
