Those late '90s/early '00s Prime Cuts are some of my favorite patch cards ever. DLP had some truly great game-used sets from the late '90s through 2005 or so. Here are two of my Prime Cuts:

Agreed, prime cuts were awesome...I've got two sweet leaf game used cards to share once I get around to taking pictures...

These have always been 2-3 times more popular (and expensive) as other like numbered cards from the same year.

I agree, I still love the Prime Cuts. Especially the 1999 version with the holofoil. Still highly collected today. Although still sought after today, those cards were so expensive back in the day.

It isn’t serial numbered. Just inserted 1:400 packs. There are 15 in the set.
I wish they made cards like this. Instead we get the same card with 20 different color variations.

So a guy has a bunch of Hobby Reserve Etched foils on eBay. He said that mine wasn’t rare and his was when I showed him the two that I have. Said mine was probably pack issued. He said his were 3-D textured. Both of mine are textured. Are they really rare? I told him mine were textured and he said I got a great deal. What are these actually worth?

That guy is full of it... the ones that come out of the pack are the same ones he has, it’s pretty clear from his pictures. They all should be somewhat raised on the white ‘starburst’ area. The layering process needed to create that effect makes them all slightly 3-D. I have a couple I pulled from packs, purchased on COMC, and I did buy my McGinest from him a few weeks back. They all look and feel the exact same. Score was still fully functioning in 1997, there really aren’t any “rare/non-pack issued” cards from this set. Most of the “rare” and “un-released” cards came from 1998, when they went belly up. There are several pinnacle cards that can be found from 98 that were not released, because there was no Pinnacle set released in pack form. But 1997 Score Cards have no un-released variations to my knowledge, nor none I have ever seen officially catalogued by any of the major checklist sites.

EDIT: I should be clear, these cards are found in Score’s ‘Hobby Reserve’ set, not basic Score, but they were released in packs and the ones the seller has at his ridiculous prices are no different than the pack issued cards.

This is actually one of the rarest 90s sets. He was highly mistaken on what he had because someone at Beckett told him the wrong information. That or he is just deceptive. He had a complete set of the 1:11 Hobby Reserve exclusive insert set. A lot of player collectors and team are able to finally cross off this card from their wantlist because of these listings.

The Hobby Reserve collection was a hobby exclusive set that most dealers were forced into purchasing the one 6 box case minimum so that way they could get the rights to purchase other Pinnacle Products like Certified and Totally Certified. Pinnacle had approx. 3000 dealers in the network at that time. The basic odds make these Reserve Collection cards make the print run to be estimated at less than 60 of each card.

To be clear again, I never said the parallel itself isn’t somewhat rare, just that the way he is advertising them as different than what comes in the packs simply is not the case. I have almost every one of the Patriots (multiples of a few), and the McGinest I purchased from him is not different in any way. I don’t want anyone to be fooled by that, and think they need to pay, say, the $150 he wants for Junior Seau for example. Yes, the print run is probably somewhere between 50-60, but there are several other sets that are #d to 50 from that era where a Seau sells for 10-20 bucks. It’s mostly about the demand/interest in this set, which isn’t really THAT popular in terms of commanding premium prices. I’ve bought 3 Ben Coates over the last couple years, the most I paid for any one of them was $3.25. They are a nice card, a rare card, sure, i’m Not disputing any of that. Just don’t want anyone to get fooled by this guy’s listings into thinking they’re something that they are not.

And all of that said, the team boxes with the Premiere Club cards are really where it’s at if you want a rare and beautiful card cracked ice before panini coined the term

Agree 100% on the Premiere Club. I busted 12 boxes of the Fins and pulled 3 Marinos. Sold two of the three of the Marinos and each one went for more than what I bought the 12 boxes for. There was 10 boxes on ebay recently that I just couldn't pull the trigger on.

I do think the Reserve Collection is highly undervalued myself though.

Agree 100% on the Reserves being undervalued, but in my opinion there are a lot of late 90s parallels that are. Rookies & Stars Longevity, 99 Fleer Trophy Collection, SPX Radiance, 98/99 Atomic Refractors, the list goes on. The PMGs and Rubies get all the attention, and to a lesser degree the topps gold label red labels, but there are a lot of TOUGH sets out there that I don’t think today’s collector realizes how tough a pull it was in the 90s. Heck, the Upper Deck parallels/100 from 98-2000 we’re not easy pulls, and many good players can be had for under 5 bucks. Pulling a card /100 or less from the 90s is roughly the equivalent of pulling a /25 or less today(from a lower end product of course-not like a National Treasures where you get them in every pack ).

I’ve got some Score Patriots boxes en route, hoping to pull the last 3 premiere club cards I need- can’t wait to bust into them
