Default Avoid Retail Like the Plague!

Okay, pretty broad thread title, but if you live in Shakopee, Minnesota you no longer have to worry about getting to Target to fulfill your card fix.

I haven't opened any products in a few years now (singles only), but each time I am in a target I stroll by the card isle to see if they carry anything new. Today was the first time I happen to walk by as people were stocking the shelves.

There were two people -- a middle aged woman and a middle aged man. The woman was restocking the non-sports and the man who was stocking the sports. As I walked by, I saw the man going through every single pack, blaster, hanger, etc etc. I watched the man open the large cardboard boxes containing all of the unopened product and proceed to open the retail boxes/gravity feed boxes and begin to weigh every single pack! Pack after pack went onto the scale with the occasional pack being fanned for closer inspection. All packs that didn't meet his criteria were then loaded back into the gravity feed box and then stocked on the target shelf. All blasters and hangers were weighed as well. The packs that met his criteria were placed in his own personal basket.

The basket by his feet was his own personal basket of the 'good stuff'.

Here is a cropped close up of his scale (to the left of his phone).

I pretended to look around at various accessories surrounding the checkouts (probably for a total of 4-5 minutes). There wasn't much talk between the man and woman other than the woman asking, "Anything good?" Maybe a minute later the woman then asked him, "So do open the stuff in your car, or do you wait to get home?"

I realize this is (unfortunately) pack searching thread/topic number 1,258,219, but just letting anyone know who lives in around the southern metro that they can cross off this particular Target from their Heritage buying expeditions.

In the heritage thread I remember glancing through some talk that these are not target employees who stock the card isles, correct? Either way, this was a well oiled operation this man had going on.

Would be ironic if while he is ripping people off searching through everything, that some burglars are doing the same at his house that very moment!

Sports cards at Target are stocked by the vendor rep from Excell Marketing.

Excell has a website where they can be contacted.

If I were you, I'd forward all the particulars and the photos you took to their CS division.

I would have taken the stuff out of his basket, and I would love for him to try and take it back.

Would be nice to find out who it is...and make them famous in the community (at least)people just don't realize cameras are everywhere. I might have said something to the store management.

I had one pack searcher at Walmart and I watched him place 3 packs behind some other stuff and then went to the restroom. While he was gone, I went and took them and waited for him to return. It was hilarious watching him dig around the shelves for the hidden packs. He was frantic when he couldn't find them, kept looking around to see who might have taken them. I bought the packs, which contained the plain white jersey pieces, but it was worth it to watch that stooge flounder around like someone had stolen his dog.

Are you sure he was stocking the shelves? He definitely is a scumbag, but around here there is usually 1 person that stocks. He may just be a customer that asked the woman if he could go through the stuff before she put it out. Either way, He should be publicly shamed.

It's bad enough when consumer's do it but the person stocking the product is a bit much. I would've liked to think I would've called him out but most likely I would've done nothing. This is for the op, you have pictures and the stores location the ball is in your court whether you want to report him or not.

A pack searching thread isn't complete unless you grab the scale and put it between your...well, you know.

The last time I encountered this last summer I asked the dude "what are you doing?" He said"just looking" when I said "you mean searching the packs?" He just gave a wry grin and went back about his business.
I grabbed a manager and explained what he was doing as we walked back to the cards. The manager caught him red handed and said rather sternly"hey what do you think you're doing?!" I walked away after making what I thought was an appropriate introduction.
Freaking losers need to be called out by collectors and reported to management if they have any hope of stopping these bums.

This is great. Who is going to be the first one to buy a pack then file a NAD case against him?
