So what? Did you designate yourself as the guy who points out alleged lack of humility in posts? When someone starts a thread showing off their newest expensive card, do you jump in to tell them to show some humility?

If you think this whole thread is SPAM, fine. But at least it’s SPAM with entertainment value to many. It’s not like he’s just starting a thread to pimp a player like tons of other people on here.

Same. I don't think I've ever had a single interaction with mouschi, but I know that this thread lines up with the good guy/ passionate collector that he has shown himself to be over my few years here.

Snarky, clever, in poor taste or constructive, I will take all of this to heart. I try to adjust my internal sails because of what others see is not in line with who I am. Based upon what some are saying, they think I'm trying to hide any self promotion and attention seeking, so let me clear the air:

I am seeking attention.

I am trying to sell a book when it comes out.

I am selling my collection.

But I am also documenting. I'm not trying to hide any of this. Like, at all. And I sincerely apologize to everyone if I came across as doing so.

As I mentioned, I will take this all to heart. Simply put, I don't know who you, cmpunk or bedot are, but frankly, it bothers me that you all have such a sour taste in your mouth about me. Valid reasons or not, it does give me reason to pause and evaluate what I'm doing / how I'm doing it. I cannot say I'm going to change anything that I do, but at the very least, hopefully the air is clear as to what my motives are and we can all move on.

I don’t have anything against you.

Based on what people say of you, and many speak highly of you, you’re probably really nice. It’s your thread, so of course you can write as you wish. And there’s no doubt you have extensive hobby knowledge and still an amazing collection.

I’m just saying what probably a portion of others feel. It doesn’t all come across as positive.

Anyway, I’m moving on. I think I’m retiring from replying to a Mouschi thread.

There isn’t a need as it just causes issues.

Thank you coachnip13 and superdan49 I very much so appreciate the kind words!

Tkraft24, I'm still reeling over the image comment the other day LOL! (Truth be told, I'm sure most people just look at the pics I post and move on.) I've actually considered adding pictures in the book, but I just don't think they will transfer as well as they do on screen. I'm not quite certain though. If they could somehow make hard copy books with gifs, I think I'd be in heaven.

Haha, don’t take it personally, I simply don’t have the attention span to read unless it’s something I’m really into at the time.

My older brother is a writer, sports writer even, and I hardly make it though any of his articles!

I know you wrote a week or so, and though I don't know you, I'll admit - it stung a bit. I certainly appreciate your thoughtful response here, and as I was saying to discostu, I'm not just someone who can/will sluff something like this off. You are right - a portion of others probably do feel this way, which is a huge bummer to me.

I truly hope that everyone would have a positive experience when reading what I write ... While I wouldn't change anything, I'm going to count this as a learning experience for myself. I don't know exactly what to do with that just yet, if anything, but I am grateful for you not being someone who just decides to take pot shots at me. So, thanks again bedot - and truly - I do wish you a fantastic evening!

No worries at all brother - truth be told, my wife doesn't even read anything I write. Heck, it took her a year to read my article in Beckett In her defense, she WAS there with me, so she already knew what had happened.

The only person online that has gotten me to read every word they’ve written is right here:
http://dontevenreply.com

Unfortunately, the author has been inactive for years as far as I know

This thread with a couple unsatisfied readers, a ballgame on TV, and a fine bourbon is all that is needed for a good evening. (Check, check, and check)

I prefer “Why is there no hobby love for [the guy I’ve spent thousands of dollars on]?” threads to “Don’t look now but [the guy I’ve spent thousands of dollars on] is heating up” threads.

Every single forum i frequent will have a copy of each post. It's like that pop song that gets played endlessly on the radio. I Think a lot of people just have Tanner fatigue.

He is passionate, but sometimes less is more and it can behoove one to pump the brakes on occasion. It is clear that this is attention seeking behavior. I know the word humility has been thrown around. This behavior is definitely not humble type behavior if that is what what Tanner was shooting for.

It's really simple. When he was building his collection, he made sure EVERYONE knew what he needed. Ad nauseam. Now that he is selling, same. Sales must be a bit sluggish now, still 4,000 more to go. And then there is that book.

I made the comparison before and I still think it is apropos, Tanner is really resembling Mr Don West...

My gosh. A thoughtful discourse between people who don’t agree. If nothing else, this thread should be applauded for that.

On a personal note as someone who has sold items to OP and also reads some (not all ) of his posts, good luck and glad to hear you are at peace with your decision which is ALL that is really important hobby wise. Life wise is certainly seems you havevthat well in control.

As Stan Lee used to say Excelsior!

If you really want to see an advertising blitz, wait till the book comes out.

Don West, really? The whole super collection was a ploy to cash in on the Jose Canseco market? Tanner is going to lose money like crazy on his collection, HE set the market value for just about everything.

Truly curious and NOT an attack. If you have Tanner fatigue why read and comment? Why not skip entirely? Is this one of those he just chaps my @$$ situations for some reason? Or am I just to old to get the message board zeitgeist? Or is it something else?

Tanner won’t share his custom card trade secrets.

The Don West comparison is because when Tanner posts, he posts EVERYWHERE, the same content, the same time. He is in a way yelling at us the way old Don did about those awesome 93 upper deck wax boxes.

Default Exit Interview: I'm Retiring from Collecting Canseco and Selling Out

Before I knew of this forum I saw all of tanner’s posts on CConnection for each set in the review section. Soliciting for Canseco. I appreciated the hustle, dedication, and love of a hobby. I found it surprisingly pleasant after joining the forums that it was the same individual here as there.

Well, it's a public forum. The hobby hero worship is a bit tiresome and I think the original post was at least to some degree disingenuous as Tanner has motivation to sell a book and a collection and was trying to drum up some attention for that as he later in the thread has admitted to. Ad blitzes are fine, don't bother me a bit, but lets just call it what it is.

I can see why it rubs some people wrong and they see it as a dressed up B/S/T post. I found the OP to be a really good read, but I found myself wondering how genuine it was after seeing this last update. Still, I can't get mad at mouschi for trying to get attention--we all do that here in some form.

So much bitterness.....

I just can't process how and why anyone would come into this thread and take the time to post if they dislike mouschi and his posts that much. Do all of you also eat 3 meals a day consisting of food you hate? Read books about topics and from authors you hate? Watch TV/movies you hate?

Everyone is willingly entering the thread and reading it. Do you read every thread and post? Is everyone who is complaining keeping up with every single thread in the hobby talk section?

Everyone wants the OP to admit he's self promoting and looking for attention, well, why don't the negative Nelly's just admit they are in here to stir the pot and just be argumentative?

There is so much negativity in this world already, I will never understand why people look to add to it.

As a fellow super collector (I collect Gary Carter and have over 2K of his cards), I totally get the obsession and addiction involved in super collecting a player or team. It’s a time suck and a money pit!! I think it was brave of you to share your real struggles and reason for getting out with the greater card collecting community. I urge other Gary Carter collectors to do the same thing. Sell your collections. Spend more time with your families. Enjoy your pool or your backyard more. And when you decide to give it up, please PM me as I’ll take whatever you have that I need.

I see right through your shenanigans! You are hiding trying to buy Gary Carter cards in a response!
