Default Fake Topps Living Set & 80th Anniversary art cards ebay: editorgaw uptownsports

Anyone remember NJGREGG (Scherzer confirmed) that used to be in this thread a lot before he got banned? Someone on FB is claiming an Ebay seller by the name of “topps*now” is selling fake 80th Anniversary 1953 Topps Baseball Wrapper Art cards. He said his actual name is Gregg Weider and it looks like he’s from Monroe Township, NJ.

Anyways he had the listing up last night and after the buyer messaged him it appears he took down the listing.

editorgaw is Gregg Wieder and topps*now but houdini said he is not NJGREGG if you remember.

IMO I think it's just a bad choice of word for the listing. I'm sure he'll be around here soon to speak for himself.

I don't think there's controversy here- these cards are printed on-demand so the two examples were more than likely just printed at different times. Probably more of an error than anything

youre probably right, the fb post calling them out as 'fakes' just shook me a little bit --
if the wrapper card were faked, then what if other cards TN/TLS cards purchased off ebay were faked also?

I'm with you, hoping for an unintentional error during printing/manufacturing by topps, and not something more sinister.

Gregg is a good dude. Bought from him many times and he’s always friendly and professional.

I think it’s kind of odd that the seller: topps*now ended the listing immediately. Like he’s hiding something.

Or realizes he could have a rare error of a fairly desirable card that was only offered for a limited time?

Given the seller, I assume absolutely no foul play- he probably saw the FB post or the one above. And also, why would someone fake a $13 card?

The seller: topps*now even had printed 1953 Topps Baseball Wrapper Art cards on sheets of paper too and tried to sell them on eBay as well. Which by the way is unauthorized use of a Topps product, especially if you’re trying to sell it.

I for one appreciate you bringing all this to light for us.

I too am hoping it was a simple wording error in his title and not something more malicious, but until we hear from topps*now, we can't be sure either way.

It currently "looks" bad, given what's been posted so far. I hope we see more to prove one way or the other.

I mean really, why would you sell xerox color copies of this card for your binder? Makes me think he’s printing cards too.

That could be a simple case of not knowing better. People are always looking for a way to make a quick buck, and sometimes they just don't know better.

Forging cards...we know better.

Copying and enlarging an image for a binder cover...some wouldn't know better, unfortunately.

Addressing the Wrapper issue

This was a "HUGE" mistake on topps*now part and Sometimes things are done without thinking things out...It was suppose to say

1953 TOPPS BASEBALL WRAPPER "REPLICA" GREAT FOR THE LIVING SET BASEBALL CARD SET

...All I can say is I am extremely sorry and could not go on without addressing this matter. All of you have been like family to me and If anyone got hurt I am deeply sorry. Again doing something without thinking things through.I refuse to turn my back and you deserve an explanation. I just hope that all of you understand and can forgive topps*now......

I am so deeply sorry

Dude, you have no business selling counterfeit cards, especially knowing that you’re a platinum member of the Topps Now program. Just wait till the employees at Topps find out about this. I’m sure they won’t appreciate one of their preferred customers was undercutting them by selling fakes.

Houdini, what are your thoughts on this travesty.

Also, looks like you did at one point have “replica” in the title, and then changed it back before you finally ended the listing.

Either way you knew you were selling bootlegs, shame on you. I hope you refund EVERYONE that purchased these fakes from you.

Lovetosellbaseballcards still has an active listing for these bootlegs, no wonder the prices of this card dropped like a rock

Why would you need or want to sell fakes in the first place?

What are we supposed to "understand"?

Please explain what we should understand.

Otherwise, I have a feeling you're only sorry because you got caught.

I think it's hilarious how editorgaw refers to topps*now in the third person and apologiezes on "his" behalf.

Dude, you're a real piece of work. Makes me think this guy really was NJGREGG, the Scherzer confirmed guy.

Isn’t it a federal crime to sell counterfeit material through the mail?
