Blame definitely falls most on the thief, but I wished from the start Topps had stamped these. Even some basic anti-counterfeiting hologram would have been nice.

It's too bad--this was a great idea that has just had one problem after another. I may not even make it to 100 now.

I wonder if that was a possible fake?

If Gregg is faking Topps cards for profit, and he is a Platinum member, that membership should be revoked immediately upon Topps feeling any of this is true.

He should be permanently banned from ever making a purchase directly from Topps ever again, plus have all his ebay user IDs banned as well as paypal. Not to mention getting banned on here.

Plus Topps needs to sue the crap out of him if these are indeed fake.

I mean really, a lot of hype on this set is because a common Nick Markakis card which at the time was an afterthought is selling over $200 routinely, that brought a lot of attention to this set. Im actually not surprised it is probably getting counterfeited now, cat's out of the bag now folks.

Why bother for a $15 card? You are spending tens of thousands to be a platinum member...I assume he doesn't need the money to be spending that much on a hobby...I just don't get it.

Maybe he over-spent, and now needs to steal from Topps, re-sellers, and collectors in order to keep his Platinum status.

And it might be a lot more than just a $15 card. The Markakis is over $200. How many other cards has he faked?

Exactly.

It appears he was trying to get someone to counterfeit with him in 2016. Who knows when he actually started. Maybe it was years prior, and stealing from Topps is how he afforded Platinum in the first place.

Think about that...he might have been stealing from Topps by counterfeiting cards earning enough money to buy Platinum status so Topps would unknowingly reward him for his criminal efforts against them.

Most of the guys in the Platinum club are pure flippers, and flip everything they get (even the visors and back packs) to basically break even. What I knew about him (true or not) was he was living off his disability from a car accident and not someone with a lot of disposable income.

I posted about the different shade of purple. I purchased Markakis direct from Topps and the other from ebay(not from any of his eBay ids)

When he said we could just make these ourselves in 2016 I though he was just being naive and that's when I said it was illegal. This is when I though he was like a 60 or 70 year old man living on disability. He diffidently had me duped on many levels...and it all started with me helping him finish his 2016 set when we were only on card 100 or so.
Gave me the story about being a poor disabled guy who just wants to collect the entire set. My wife said be weary of that line...anyway, hind site and all.

After hearing about this...seriously this guy had a plan back in 2016 that he just couldn't execute with Now and once Living popped up he found he could basically print money. I know Topps know how many Living he bought in the past so I am sure they will figure out how rampant it might be. I'm not real savvy with researching people on eBay but did he even deal in cards before Now started in 2016?

I am still Topps Now (Including Living's) biggest fan...don't think they will pull my card for just speaking the truth. If anyone thinks a counterfeiter of Living cards is a good thing or makes them feel comfortable...raise their hand!

Me too. Every single LS and 80th Anniversary card I have came direct from Topps to my mailbox.

I know what I have is 100% authentic. The problem is...Will everyone/anyone else know the same?

I've saved boxes, the packaging, and my invoices from Week 1. It takes up space, but I think it will help with authentication.

Hope the counterfeiting allegation is unfounded.

But wouldn't be surprised if it were true.
