Default Topps Living Set...Your Teams Mock Draft

Simply list 20 current and former players of your favorite team in order of appearance you expect Topps to release.

Chicago Cubs:
1. Fergie Jenkins
2. Cap Anson
3. Jon Lester
4. Sammy Sosa
5. Billy Williams
6. Ben Zobrist
7. Greg Maddox
8. Ron Santo
9. Yu Darvish
10. Mark Grace
11. Mordecai Brown
12. Willson Contreras
13. Ernie Banks
14. Hack Wilson
15. Kyle Schwarber
16. Frank Chance
17. Andre Dawson
18. Cole Hamels
19. Gaby Harnett
20. Lee Smith

I think Topps went way too hard on current top level Cubs...should have spread them out more. Because of that, I put Banks further down the list. Perhaps former player heavy on my list...likely some lesser current roster players coming. I did try to keep players from same generations separated. I really want a Dunston card but that is going to take a long, long time to happen.

This is interesting... Doubt if I could come up with 20 Twins players but I'll give it a go. No order.

Kirby Puckett
Tony Oliva
Kent Hrbek
Harmon Killebrew

That's it. Not much going on for the Twins. Every card they get is likely to be a scrub. I'm calling Ehire Adrianza for next Twins card.

Rays

No particular order. These are the ones I want most:

Evan Longoria
Carl Crawford
B.J. Upton
Fernando Rodney
Matt Garza
Kevin Keirmeyer
James Shields
Carlos Pena
Rocco Baldelli
Brent Honeywell RC
Joey Wendle
Tyler Glasnow
Wander Franco RC
Brendan McKay RC
Joe McCarthy RC

We've had other popular players who are bigger names elsewhere like Boggs, McGriff, Price, Zobrist... etc.

I'd take a Justin Morneau. He's a former MVP. He deserves a card.

Good point. I left him off because I thought I was reaching too far. Best of all he lives in Minnesota and works a lot of the games. Easy to get signed. Still probably getting Ehire Adrianza and then he gets DFA’d in May or something haha.

Was just predicting before, but if we are throwing in wish list as well, then I would add to the M's:

Jay Buhner
Alvin Davis
Harold Reynolds
Gaylord Perry (Would have to get the Giants treatment first, but could print one for all 8 of his teams would be cool)
Omar Vizquel
Randy Johnson
Janie Moyer
Ruppert Jones

Solid list. I’d like to see 1989 ROY Jerome Walton get a Living card as well! Really just for sentimental reasons. Haha.

Edit: and Carlos Zambrano!

Ahhh....1989....where cable TV, just having been installed by my parents, made a fan of the defending World Series Champion Dodgers turn into a Cubs fan pretty much because of opening day at Wrigley Field. I have no idea why I wasn’t at school that day?!?!?! Changed my life!

I’m totally OK with Jerome Walton...throw in Dwight Smith for selfish reasons (It would be a very long list to get to him!).

Can’t argue with Zambrano...still a lot of players really worthy of a card.

I’m loving the lists...would love Topps to fine tune selections based on our wants.

Yep, the 1989 season is the first season I have any recollection of as a kid. I think I watched every game on WGN that summer!

Huge fan of Big Z as well. I lived a mile south of Wrigley from 2006-2011 and he was by far the most entertaining Cub during those years. I doubt he’d ever get a Living card, but if he did I would buy 100!

Jerome Walton is a must. I used to immitate his batting stance when playing ball with friends.

Dodgahs:

Hodges
Newcombe
Pee Wee
Sandy
Drysdale
The Duke
Campy
LaSorda
Maury Wills
Garvey
Lopes
Cey
Russell
Dusty Baker
Nomo
Hershiser
Valenzuela
Scioscia
Karros
Gagne (but wearing the, alas, steroid-sweat foam soaked cap from his Cy Young season)

Huge fan favorites like Piazza and Kirk Gibson would be great, but I think they'd prefer to be with other teams on their lone Living card.
I do think Topps should ask the actual player's preference whenever they can.

I love this thread. I hope topps is taking notes. Look at the Dodgers for instance... Pee Wee Reese, Don Drysdale, Duke Snider and of course Sandy Koufax... SO many incredible names that need to be in this set.

Love the Mark Grace, Chris Sabo, Ron Cey, Kent freaking Hrbek!!... Fernandomania!!...

You can't reach too far in a set like this... I want everyone to get a card. Sorry Mayumi...ur hand will fall off eventually
