This is how I look at.. If I don't like what they are playing on the radio I'm certainly not going to buy the album to see if I like anything else on there. For me every Foo Fighters song is the exact same thing. It starts out slow, drums kick in, then Grohl screams his way through the rest of the song. No thanks, hard pass.

I was in high school in the early 90's. There were two groups of people there. There were Pearl Jam people and there were Nirvana people. I was firmly in the Pearl Jam camp. Nirvana did nothing for me whereas Pearl Jam spoke to me. As a matter of fact Ten and Vs. got me through a hell of a lot of hard times growing up. I suppose there is some residual Nirvana dislike that has transferred over to Grohl and The Foo Fighters. That could be what it is for me.

Sorry but this post made my head hurt.

I think there should be a thread called “Get of my lawn” where all you oldies who hate everything can meet and share your hate. I hope I don’t get old and forget what it was like to be young. Not EVERYTHING new sucks fellas.

Obviously Rock is my favorite genre. The problem is Rock is dead. Like completely dead. I dig Greta Van Fleet. They are out there putting in work to hold it down but it's pretty rough out there overall.
Fixed it for you.

Listening to commercial radio and proclaiming “rock is dead” is like leaving McDonald’s and saying, “hamburgers are gross”.

the best rock album of the past 10 years is J Roddy Walston and the Business: Destroyers of the Soft Life

I was sssooooo happy to see "This is America" receive its due from the Recording Academy. I've been obsessed with it since it came out and I feel it is one of the best videos, if not THEE best, over the past decade. It is easily the most culturally significant music video with important criticisms on society in a long time. It's about to hit a HALF BILLION views on YouTube, which is amazing in its own right for being so controversial.

Here is a great video on all of the hidden meanings behind it.

I see your point. I get it. But for me, I still remember the 80's and early 90's where I could put the radio on a certain station and never have to touch the dial again. I miss hair bands with ridiculous over the top power ballads. I miss drums and guitar solos like November Rain which has not one, not two, but 3 gd solos. Now popular radio is saturated with rap/pop combos that make my ears bleed. I don't want to look for good music. I want it to be popular so I can enjoy it and not have to see the parade of auto tune mumble rap social media stars that permeates our culture.

How ageist of you! Yes I'm joking. When it comes to entertainment, be it music, movies whatever, I've never understood the need to put people down for what they like or dislike. The fact that we have so many different options is awesome in my opinion. Hell, I even like some Nickleback songs.
*Dodges the onslaught of Nickleback jokes*
I'm an old time rock and roller and don't care for anything remotely sounding like rap. I used to hate country music and still can't stand a lot of the old twangy stuff but have come to appreciate some of the newer pop/country. But, to each his own I say. Someone mentioned that they couldn't understand the popularity of Lynard Skynard. I used to feel that way but over the years have really learned to appreciate their music. I'm a sucker for guitar playing though and they are masters at it.
Anyways, GET OFF MY GRASS!

That's great, but this wasn't the MTV video awards. Video might be great, but song? Not terrible, but definitely not the best song released this year.

I don't get the message. Guess I'm too white. Whatever, at least he got rich so good for him.

I posted a video about it, they go into the deeper meaning of some of the lyrics around 1:20.
