My memory of the earliest purple parallels - 2012 I think - is that at least with Opening Day, the one parallel did come inside a sealed plastic wrapper.

These 2019 blisters are new at Meijers, sort of. Last year they arrived one per blister, but weren't manufactured explicitly for the chain, in advance. I only bought a few of Series 2; they were ridiculously easy to search, with plenty of air volume inside the 'blister' to swish the card and pack around some. So I searched them, certainly, and picked up a Pat Neshek that way.

The '18 Opening Day purples came out much better - there were 3 cards, and always in between 2 packs, not as loose as when under a single pack as with S2.

This year, the blisters can't be searched that easily, though you can occasionally see a player name. I bought one because I could see "Joey"

But at least at the store, it is easy to pass on the ones with the whitest corners. But if it weren't for the common damage to these cards, then a good one wouldn't be worth so much, and clectors wouldn't be as interested in these. You can't have it both ways. Someday, the Topps robots will put each and every card directly into a slab, and the secondary market will be SOL on making money off a grading bump.

I expect the Walgreen package will be identical, though I would note that the Meijer's blister has radically different pack odds than other loose 16 card packs in S1. I did hit a Vintage /99 out of one though.

It will just be that 16 card pack, one guaranteed "Stars of the Game" insert, sometimes one other insert, sometimes not, and probably 2 parallels, though there is no way to know for sure right now.

It won't be "loaded" to draw in clectors, who generally pick up an entire release instantly on the first day, anyway. Topps sells millions of cards annually to people who just like cards, and aren't obsessed with their chance to pull a $20 bill out of a pack of cards. If you would rather buy Hobby releases, that's fine. You can look down your nose all you want at lowly retail baseball cards, but without them, your precious Hobby Lottery Tickets would have a base price that is much higher, and you would have far fewer customers to buy the lottery prizes from you on the secondary market.

These are all good points. I've had very good luck with these packs so far this year. I found another 18 yesterday, bought 15 and left 3 because it was clear the corners of the purples were damaged. All of the packs had two purples, a Stars of the Game and another insert of some kind. 10 of the packs had a Stars of the Game and two inserts with just about everything represented - an auto card, a couple numbered parallels, gold, foil etc. It will be interesting to see if the stores get restocked. It seems the stores I have visited get an initial inventory of 15 blisters.

Despite what others are saying, only the diehards will be seeking out Walgreens for topps cards. I remember seeing topps cards at Rite Aid back in the day. Never touched them.

Waiting to buy some series one until heritage drops and people forget about them

I went to my weekly card show yesterday and found a dealer who had opened seven cases of S1. He said this was the only Soto SP he pulled so had to grab it before it was gone.

I'm assuming it was 7 cases of Jumbo.....I'm surprised he pulled 1 SP since they were left out of Jumbo

Why would it be jumbo if they aren't in those at all?

He also said he didn't get a single Acuna SP in those seven cases, either.

I read it as his only Soto SP in the 7 cases. Could be SP of others...

Looking at the "break" section, it appears as though very few people are opening this release.

Seems that way - the 1984 Relic set seems like its a little too "hard" to complete!

Good question. I would have been happy with all 3. It was Votto. Goes well with the Suarez, for now. I will be on the look-out for one that says "Scooter" now perhaps. Most of them, you can't see this year, just random with how the ends of the wrapper set in the blister. Will probably buy a couple more next time I get some groceries. Then a couple hangers of Heritage, then Opening Day will come along. Then I will try a few Yellows from Walgreens for fun. Usually I finish out sets 2 years later, when they get discounted.

Does anyone know the approximate print run of the Meijer's purple parallels?

Full hobby case and only 1 auto. No clears.. pretty weak case. The auto was a Kolby Allard 1984 red auto 25/25.
