I do think it's different to ask Purdue to fall back on their defense, vs. Virginia choosing to do so at the end. Virginia's D is their bread and butter.

I would have definitely fouled if the momentum was different. They were ice cold from 3 heading into that possession. They essentially gave them free points and a sliver of hope.

Purdue made the right call in fouling. UVA chased down a volleyballed missed free throw in their own end, hit the open guy, who had to turn around and hit the jumper. All of which crazily happened. Purdue played smart at the end of regulation and UVA played out of their mind in those final seconds.

For me the game was lost with Edwards chucked up a 3 when they were only down by 1 in OT.

I actually think it's the opposite. You guard the 3 point line and if someone makes a phenomenal shot you tip your cap and play for OT. What happened is the thing where "guys come out of the woodwork." No way somebody criticizes for NOT fouling there even on a made 3.

Volume chucking our way to the....oh, we lost?

Unreal from Edwards tonight. Maybe the best tournament performance (and in only 4 games) maybe ever. The only thing I’m torn up about is the end of regulation. What a freak ending. Also, what a terrible call by the play by play guy (saying it’s for the win).

Would’ve like to have seen Cline push the issue once or twice late in the game to see if we could get him hot too.

At the end of the day, we made a good run. Not much else you can say.

I can see that point of view for sure. After that ending though I wonder if Virginia is the team of destiny this year, the team of redemption after last year.

Edwards just banked in a 3, so ANYTHING could happen if you let VA get a shot up at the buzzer. The foul was the right call to make. Amazing luck to get the tip out PAST halfcourt and then get a shot off at the buzzer to tie at the end of regulation.

That's even assuming you'd get good tip out as an offensive rebounder.

They could have just as easily got a tip back on the second miss or gotten fouled again on a box out.

Again, I think you leave it up to your defense in a last shot situation up by 3. Just my opinion.

4 of their last 8 wins were decided by 2 or fewer (3 by 1 point) and all 4 of those games the opposing team missed a putback at the rim for the win or tie. Their lack of a perimeter game allows teams to stay close. The MSU v Duke game could be another nail biter.

I'll say this much. I thought the tournament has been pretty ho hum, but the past few nights have been great. I really like Texas Tech. Their coach is a star!

my first opportunity to see zion was yesterday . does he ever ? "shoot" the ball ? or does he rely on his size and drive to the hoop ? he is already huge . he is gonna be a freak in 4 years . is he really the biggest thing since LeBron though ?

It wasn't his best game yesterday, but every midrange jumper Rui hit I kept thinking if only Zion had that stroke. I could get on board the Mount Zion hype train with a simple 15 foot jumper. Maybe he develops it over the first couple of years in the league. He has had a nice run with his set shot college 3 since he has come back from injury but it sure is slow and ugly.
