Default Which Brady rookie should I get.

I wanted to purchase a Brady rookie but don't know which one to get. I normally just collect Jordan cards and his are pretty cut and dry. He just has 1 Fleer rookie and 1 Star rookie. I looked at listings of Brady rookies and I was overwhelmed. There are so many and I don't know what's what. I have around 2-3K to spend. I'd prefer to stay towards the 2k end but I would spend more if needed. I'd prefer a BGS 9 but would go a little lower in grade but no lower than a 8. Not sure if there are any good ones with a auto in that price range but if so that would be my first choice. Any info and suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Depends on what you're looking for. Is it an investment or for your collection? A big factor with his rookies is if you want it in pro uniform. Very few of his rookies are actually in a pro uniform - most of them are in practice gear and sweatpants.

Bowman Chrome is a solid choice. Not a training camo photo and Chrome holds up in value. I think you can get a PSA 10 for around 2-2200. I also really like his SPx RC. Its numbered, has some nice holofoil printing and you can find them raw in your price range

One that isn't trimmed. Best of luck finding one.

I’m a fan of the limited /350... condition sensitive. One of his rarest RCs, his rarest RC in pro uni... the leaf RS /1000 is a safe option too... low foiling so the possibility of the foil rusting is low unlike all other Brady RCs

I’m not going to be starting a entire Brady collection. I just want one nice rookie card that I would hold onto for the long time as an investment. I would prefer pro uniform but it’s not a necessity.

Thanks for the tips so far. I’m going to go check some of these out. Any with a auto that anybody could recommend or is that out of my price range?

Thanks

Playoff Momentums are nice. EX is good too. Or you can roll with a PSA 10 Fleer Mystique gold if you're ok with him in a college uni.

I’d go with 2000 Fleer Autographics...on card auto from his rookie year. He’s in a Michigan uniform but since they don’t have a traditional logo on their helmet the logos aren’t scrubbed like they are with other players such as Peter Warrick. I hate logoless cards but since this isn’t the case for schools like Michigan, Boston College, Notre Dame, etc. it’s a great looking card.

I think a PSA 6 just sold for a little over $700. I wouldn’t let the grade scare you off as you know it’s real and isn’t doctored.

his best RC in my opinion is Bowman Chrome. You cant go wrong. By and large his RC's with him in a pats uni are more desirable.

I'm a big fan of the Playoff Momentum rc.

numbered to 750, same photo as his contenders rc.

extremely undervalued IMO

if you are wanting an auto i agree the autographics is a sound purchase. tom brady + the autographics brand... its a great long term hold. just be sure to buy graded to verify authenticity.

non-auto i would say a perfectly centered psa 10 chrome is as blue chip as it gets.

Isn’t he a known trimmer? Lots of threads about him.

For instance, see below or just type in “buynicecards Blowoutcards” on google search.

If just going for one, then I would say Bowman Chrome -- either a PSA 10 or BGS 9.5...or if the overall grade doesnt matter as much, then a BGS 9 is solid bang for the buck. To me, this card is like the 86-87 Fleer Jordan and the one to own, if only one.

I also agree with tnarg and that Playoff Momentum /750 is an extremely underrated rookie card of his. Will cost a little more than the Bowman Chrome but less out there.

Bottom line though buy graded, and keep up to date best you can on all the trimming garbage others are reporting. Let us know what you decide on - buy one now in the offseason!

At that price range, I'm partial to the Bowman Chrome as well. The SPx is another personal favorite of mine. Wish I picked up both before they exploded in price.

Yes definitely just joking but thanks for looking out because you never know what someone is aware of or not. I would definitely never buy a card from Eric Slitz.

Thank you to everyone for all the suggestions. So far I’ve got it narrowed down to the Bowman chrome, spx and the fleer auto.

No problem at all. And thanks for that kind of response bro Honestly makes me feel good that I did share

Best of luck on your Brady endeavors. Please share (like an image) of what you end up picking up too.

If you're looking for a true long term investment, get a graded Contenders.
