Even without his accomplishments in CBA, Marbury has been in the NBA for 17 years and he played at an all-star level for at least 10 years, so if he's not qualified, many of the players in the HOF list aren't qualified as well.

I concur with Jerry Stackhouse and Antawn Jamison. Very nice long careers, but probably not quite nice enough. And my 2 favorite Tarheels of all-time.

Bobby Jones - 1st Team All-American, Olympian, NBA Champion, world-class defender, set the ACC record for shooting %, 5x All-Star, 10-time 1st team All-NBA Defense, led ABA in shooting 2x, NBA once.

That's a HoF resume.

How about Buck Williams?
Mike Bibby.

I listened to the new Bill Simmons podcast this morning and thought of this thread. He talked for a little bit about how Iggy and Jamison will end up in the HOF.

Do people really think Chris Webber is only a Hall of Very Good type player??

that is shocking to me actually

his career average is 20.7/9.8/4.2 and toss in 1.4blk and 1.4stl also

for a 15yr career!! (he was injured many times and played only about 10-11 seasons worth of games...but still...he covered 93-08 and as a PF has 20/10/4 line

PER is 20.9--56th all time

ROY
5x All Nba--1x 1st, 3x 2nd, 1x 3rd

he is top 100 all time in PPG, RPG, SPG, BPG

top 60 in Def WS
top 40 in VORP

i dont know...i just never really thought of him not being a HOF...but then i see they list him at 14% odds...lol...

Just searched on Basketball-Ref and not 100% sure I did it correctly....searched for players who have career average of 20.7/9.8/4.2 like Webber ended with....

Results: Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Elgin Baylor, Chris Webber.....thats it!! Webber was one of the better passing big men of all time...to me he was and is a no brainer...

oh and Ben Wallace to me is a lock!! for reasons already stated...ill be bummed if he doesnt make it...

Default Hall of "Really Good" Discussion

Shawn Marion although he will get in eventually. His stats didn’t jump off the charts individually in any category but combined was unheard of and he won a chip with the mavs to help his case.

Rondo, Derrick Coleman, Steve Smith, Kenny Anderson, rod strickland, mark Jackson, Michael sugar ray Robinson (knicks crackhead in the 80s who lead the league in steals), to name a few that I didn’t see mentioned

Also Luka Doncic

blind taste test...

5x All-star
All-NBA 1st team
4x All-NBA 2nd team
4x All-defense 1st team
All-defense 2nd team
2x DPOY

vs

5x All-star
All-NBA 1st team
3x All-NBA 2nd team
All-NBA 3rd team
1x Rebounds leader
ROY

one is a guarantee and the other is mocked?

I'd have to see who they're up against, but in general I think guys like Manu and Tony are first ballot.

Manu probably gets in since it’s the “Basketball HOF” and not the “NBA HOF” and their standards are so much lower than MLB and the NFL. But sorry 2 All-Star appearances just doesn’t do it for me.

For sure, but you have to look at all of his international stuff (as I think you already alluded to). I don't take All-Star appearances to amount to much of anything. Check out everything that's listed on the right sidebar here

Manu's getting in. One thing I don't really like about the international stuff is that I rarely see it acknowledged that all those leagues are below the NBA.

In baseball, we don't hear about a player's Japanese league stats, or how they did in Triple-A, or winter ball in Puerto Rico, or how their team won the World Baseball Classic, etc.
