I think, as someone who has been in this hobby since 1980, we need to consider our sources when info is given.

1) LCS owners/employees will keep pumping the industry. Most of the LCS shop people I have spoken too trash PWCC before trashing PSA or Beckett. One of these is a competitor, the other is a partner.

2) The NY Times weighed in with a synopsis, but no real venom. They were careful to present the issue but they did not dig deep enough to skewer anyone. They are playing it safe.

3) The NY Times also was a bit off in comparing the Art world to the card world. There have recently been many instances of questionable motive behind authentication, restoration...etc...

4) This could have fit into Michael Lewis' new Podcast "Against The Rules". I recommend it to all who do Pod listening. He talks about the "Refs" in our daily lives and the roll they play, along with why they are necessary but also how they have been compromised. It fits this card grading trimming narrative perfectly.

Anyone going to the National needs to buy up multiple copies and strategically place them around the show floor.

Or for extra giggles, take one up to Brentsy, Moser and the PSA rep and ask them to sign it

I might have to send a message to pwcc on one of their auctions asking if the card being sold has been Moser'd.

Ken Kendrick: “In my experience, I’ve found him to be a bright, capable guy, particularly compared to some of his peers in the baseball card world.”

Translation: "Unlike most baseball card collectors, who are a bunch of gullible morons, Mr. Huigens is a salt-of-the-earth brain genius."

I think he's talking about compared to other consignment guys and "industry leaders" and not necessarily other collectors.

I guess it all depends on how you define "peers."

I wish they would've quoted some of the parts about making the pain flow. Either way, I'm interested to see where this goes from here.

Sorry to put a damper on the circle jerk, but it's 2019. Being in the times isn't the deal it used to be. Still an accomplishment, but not one of the only sources of media out there like it was 20 years ago.

I know a girl who boned a couple dudes for $ and didn't get paid once. She found a reporter and got her story published in there.

Quote: Ms. Rudnick said in an interview afterward that the conversation was focused on the Met’s collection, and she commended Mr. Huigens for his “deep knowledge of baseball card collecting.”

You can not compare the two.

If you were just touching up the cards there would not be as much controversy as there is now.

Do not get me wrong there would be controversy but not as much.

What they are doing to cards though is cutting them.

Why don't you go take the mona lisa out of her frame and start cutting canvas off and see if people don't get upset.

The nyt is no better then any tabloid with all the fake news they pump out each day.

Of course since this is the nyt the article is completely one sided and makes our side look bad and has very little info on our side.

Naturally they give more space to the mona lisa.

When did this happen?

If it was 2019 or the last couple years I am surprised she did not falsely accuse them of rape.

Of course since woman can do that even years down the road I guess there is still time to do it.

I really like that searches for PWCC should turn up this story. Serves them right.

Hah. No, did not accuse him of that although I guess in a way that could be debated if that was what happened in hindsight.

Article came out early this year I believe

I know, right? At least Fox News would have been fair and balanced and report only on the facts.

Agreed..

The fraud uncovered on these very forums by various heroes of our hobby has just reached nation-wide news status.
The NYT is no joke.. millions of people read it.

Caption under main picture of article:

"Baseball cards on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Unlike art restoration, changes to items in the collectibles market hurt their value."

This is a huge deal...

But has anyone looked at PWCC today?

No one cares yet...

The ones who hide it are worse than the ones that don't IMO.
