Three boxes of a what looks like a crappy basketball product. I don’t collect basketball but oh well. Hopefully others did well.

I think this is the first and last Megamix I'll buy. I also got an Acuna ball which is fine and I'm not upset with that. It's the whole Golden Ticket silliness.

If you're going to rip off a classic movie, remember that they had FIVE Golden Tickets offered. I wish I knew in advance what the prize(s) were and sorry if it was announced but I missed it, I preordered mine the day they came out. I figured they would offer up multiple prizes (you know, like maybe five?) in the drawing. Instead, it was the VIP package on Saturday night where I had already gone out and purchased great Indians seats to go watch the game.

Had I known ahead of time that my chances were very slim to win anything and if I did, I would have to make the tough choice of likely never making it to Progressive Field again and go to the VIP Party instead, I probably just wouldn't have used the ticket and sold it to someone who could have.

A 2011 Topps Update blaster or something like that would have been nice on top of the VIP package, something really high end and expensive that collectors would want to chase would have been the cherry on top for me and then I'd be back again in the future. I'm not telling you how to run your promotions but raising $60k to offer up only one item many of us possibly couldn't use was not worth it to me when all is said and done.

You got something though. It was a blind buy. You could have gotten something of greater value with the mystery envelope and the VIP ticket. It's not like they just pocketed $60,000. They probably got a decent return, but so did other people. The blasters I got of Prizm were not my cup of tea (valued at $150) and I don't sell wax online so I gave them to some kids.

My point is, it was exactly what I thought it'd be. I'm not sure what people were expecting. Had you, or anyone else who is upset over this, won the VIP ticket, I doubt you'd be upset over the process.

No, they didn't pocket the entire $60k but I'm sure it was inventory they just wanted to clear out that was getting stale and there was likely also a profit margin built into the entire sale that they were looking to hit.

Would I have been upset? Sure, not after I found a buyer for my ticket so I could attend the Indians game with my friends who came to town with me that I couldn't ever possibly ditch.

I had figured the prizes would have been tangible, at the very least.....and not to attend a party I'm almost certain I wouldn't have done anyway. Silly of me for making assumptions that a) there would be multiple prizes and b) that it would be a product Blowout would sell and not something that was possibly given to them for being a dealer at the show. But it's the last time I'll be making that mistake, fool me once...

I agree with the poster above, I wish everything was more transparent. I bought two boxes and I was still super confused on what products I could get and what the drawing was for - I assumed there would be multiple prizes as well.

Anyone buying into a "blind" contest has ZERO reason to complain.

Complaining and criticizing are two completely separate things.

All I'm saying is this is my last time I'll be getting one, that's all.....and I'm giving my reasons why.

I won't be buying into this again in the future. I bought two tickets and received (3) 2015-16 Prizm basketball blasters and (3) 2013 Football Rookies & Stars hobby boxes. I don't care that the blasters have a chance at a cool silver rookie, the odds are long and it was disappointing to receive a retail product from a booth with thousands of hobby boxes. I ended up busting the blasters and best card was a Lebron base. I'm pretty sure those football boxes I received were on sale for around $20 during Black Friday and they are just dumping the ones that didn't sell then. I watched a few other people open their envelopes and they received similar items. Oh well, live and learn for next time!

Also, my golden tickets had 2 PM CST listed on them. Asked the guys running the booth and they were re-using tickets from last year's Chicago show. Pretty lazy and some people may not have shown up at the right time.

I thought this was a great promo! Bought 2 tickets, hit a 3-Box lot of Clear Vision and my wife got a 20-box case of Optic Fast Break which also could be redeemed for 80 silver packs.

Even without the case, we still would have had a blast at BO all week. The daily raffles were fun too, felt like BO did a LOT more than any of the other vendors so they got our box money all 5 days.

I'll be a buyer again next year - had no issues redeeming or with the way this was run. No one can make everyone happy but I'd say Fish managed this one very well in a hectic environment.

The ONLY thing I didn't like was that nothing was sealed and what I mean is the black envelope wasn't sealed. I found that an odd choice since it really would make them easy to search if someone wanted to.

All black envelopes contained the golden tickets - they are all the same. There is nothing to search.

The prizes were between the black envelope and shirt in a sealed package. Who would sit there at the booth, opening packages, unfolding the prize papers, then folding the shirt and prize back up to re-stuff in the package and swap for another? There is literally no chance someone could do that, or would be allowed to.

I could have sworn the folder paper was in the black envelope but I could be wrong.

Hmm, maybe some were, but mine were not. Even if they were, who would search them? BO staff were right there, and no one would be allowed to swap packages after opening them.

I thought this was all done pretty well. A list of all potential prizes would have been nice ahead of time, but I knew it was a blind draw so I was ok with my decision to buy and Id do so again.

I agree 100% with one exception. Don't post in the thread saying:

I will visit later today to answer more questions

Preparing for show next few hours

Im avail at EMAIL to any questions as well
please put "megamix" in subject line

and then not respond back. It turns out, I am glad they sold out before I could buy any. My question was in relation to how many drawings there were since it was not specified. Was it a 1:600 chance or 1:100 (6 drawings). That's all I wanted to know. I'm not mad, I realize the whole staff was busy prepping for the show but I also didn't send a random email. It was posted to email any questions...

Blowout blew it. (By the way, you didn't get a box of candy unless you asked for it. Was it really that hard to put it together?) I'll be around next year and remind folks. 2013 Hometown Heroes boxes x3 that you're selling for $35 at your table isn't worth it. Lot's of "people" talk about their hits. Didn't see them at the show.
with posts like this and the thread you have started, i am wondering if you will be around here next year
