So I'm new into the prospecting and when I scour the dark corners of the internet (ok, it's just ebay) I see how dramatic the price jumps when a card is a 9.5 or (obviously) higher. As someone who's never been a grader, I guess this goes out there to those that are...to grade or not to grade? and with which company? and who the hell can get either one of even come close to fulfilling their orders in the paid for timeline?

In before it is said.
Grading is a scam. |

Yup. And there is no such thing as a perfect card.

Anything that creates such a dramatic price increase should be met with a high degree of skepticism. Oh wait, why weren’t people asking themselves this a year or two ago...?

Haha! And that is exactly my point. I have a bunch of beautiful cards that are 9s. In my mind they are “perfect” as they are my PC. And make it affordable ![]() Other examples ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

![]() Oh I agree totally. I've seen 9's that are gorgeous (in my non-riding mind). But then you see people sell the same auto ungraded for more than the damn 9. That is whacked. |

As a buyer I like to know that the card has undergone some sort of screening to ensure that the card is in good condition and is authentic. Unfortunately that has become quite a topic recently. As a collector I like to slab them because it could help if I decide to sell them in the future. And if not, at the very least it’s in a case that protects it well. But remember, the old saying is true, but the card and not the grade.

Bowman Chrome prospect Autos usually grade with BGS
Vintage and non-auto usually go to PSA With that being said a 9.5 BGS and PSA 10 are considered similar in terms of condition, however, the final sale price may vary depending on the card. You can check the break section on this forum and you should see bulk submissions for grading. If you try to do it yourself you usually pay more money and have to figure out the paperwork and it is easier to get experience in the group to figure out what grades well. |

So, tell me, which Auto would you rather have... The 9 or the 10... Both currently listed FS and NOT mine... I'll wait...What a joke...

Well I see why each card got its grade. Looks like their standards parallel Beckett’s. The bottom card has 2 streaks BUT the line is never broken. The top card has one streak which is the last swipe he makes. You can see the streak line is broken and that’s why it’s a 9 IMO.

If you enhance the image, the line right above the word issue in “Topps certified autograph issue” breaks and then fades off.
