Its funny because it seems people commenting on twitter posts are shady as well. In post #423 by 312 he has the twitter post and hoodyscollectibles was the comment. I know that shop in the greater Portland area has been known for their shady consignment practices for awhile now.

I went through my previous posts on other threads but couldn't find it but 1-2 years ago hoodys had a big scandal with a 100k Ben Simmons 24k gold card that was pulled in their shop and then shilled/sold/resold/and I think then banned on here. I think it was blasted here on BO for the shady tactics, lack of sales information, etc etc. I 100% know this is all true because I talked to the people, saw/held the card, and I swear posted it somewhere here the day the sale went live. But not good at researching as some of you are.

Just interesting how so many are connected and a store I know is shady along with others in Vancovuer/Portland are being the main comment.

No because a grade can be bumped without altering a card. Just the amount of fingerprints I’ve found on cards I’ve cracked is amazing.

When I still bought into fb group breaks back in 2017 I remember reading alot in this. Sadly it looks like they stopped updating people about a year ago but still a crazy datebase of scammers.

https://www.sportscardscams.com/

Looks like they are still highly active on fb just dont update the site much anymore. https://www.facebook.com/groups/Spor...5534423676517/

I don't use any social media but just a few things I used to protect myself back then...

312 does all of your findings get sent to some sort of authorities? I mean have you talked to people and is there someone making a difference and doing something about all this? from the "law" side of things?

also, outside of sharing all these threads on Facebook, social media ect...what can average guy do to help to call awareness to this problem? Logistically? call or email someone?

Quite a few well known trimmers missing from that “most wanted” list.

I'm glad I never ended up buying any of the cards sold by Brandon Taing and his partner Michael Scheffres a few years ago. I used to visit them and look at their cards at the National each year. My mind blown looking at how many of their cards were trimmed -- and they were not trimmed well. Even several of their cards that were graded and had good grades, like 9s and 10s, were clearly altered. I remember there are some threads on Blowout talking about how they used alternate eBay userids to shill and pump up their eBay auctions, too. Anyway, very happy to say I never had anything to do with these individuals. Amazing work by OP and others - thank you so much for helping the hobby!

Start naming names or create amazing threads like this & I'll add them. I don't buy/sell a lot of cards so unfortunately I don't know any of these guys independently of what gets shared here & elsewhere.

I feel like answering these questions is important. All these trimmers have been exposed, but has anything really changed at this juncture? Maybe it has and I'm unaware.

But it seems like PWCC is still selling on eBay (5,293 listings at time of this posting) and business is as usual. People are still grading cards and buying/selling graded cards. The market on graded cards does not seem to be softening much, if at all.

The inherent issue that causes all this is the fact that the card market is one that is driven by perceived value. And people's perceptions of value are easy to manipulate. From pumping certain players/sets to shilling to trimming to grading in general, everything is driven by the desire to manipulate perceived value. I'm not sure how you fight that.

You could go here: FBI https://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

Q: How does the IC3 define Internet crime?

Internet crime includes any illegal activity involving one or more components of the Internet, such as websites, chat rooms, and/or email. Internet crime involves the use of the Internet to communicate false or fraudulent representations to consumers. These crimes may include, but are not limited to, advance-fee schemes, non-delivery of goods or services, computer hacking, or employment/business opportunity schemes.

BO just needs to free some minds:

“Card grading is a system, son. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, trimmers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on grading, that they will fight to protect it.”

Too many people are financially dependent on grading that freeing their minds will be tough.

But grading isn’t completely bad...or an enemy...it’s just that people mindlessly want to say a graded card is worth much more money than it really should be because they’re helplessly inured mostly on the financial part...which makes them vulnerable to crooks.

Mike's name was used for Metro's National booth 6 years ago. Since this bday party is still going, maybe he could help us out
