I always try and get as close as possible to the venue, hotel-wise, mostly due to parking/being able to conveniently go back to the room to "recharge" (and/or "visit the library") without wasting any time.

If you're going into the city, take an Uber/Lyft (or the "L") as its cheaper than parking anyways. (plenty of free parking if you stick to the suburbs)

People usually talk about trade nights at the show and expect posts here/on other forums/social or ask around the Nationals. These are a good way to buy/deal with people that don't set up and I hear some pretty good deals happen (I may hit one on Thurs/Fri night, depending)

Also, Chicago Pizza takes about 45-1 hour to cook but you can call your pizza order in before you even enter the restaurant (or order it as soon as you arrive if there's a wait)

I’m staying at the Motel 6 Schiller Park. It’s cheap and a mile walk away if you want the exercise route.

I stayed there for many years. Easy walk to the venue. There is a Denny's right there and some nice restaurants and bars a 10 minute walking distance.
There will be others staying there so maybe you can hitch a ride for a couple of bucks. Or a beer!

When pricing hotels keep in mind parking fees if you will have a vehicle. The closer you get, the more likely they also charge for parking.

What about parking at the mall and just walking to the convention center from there? I would guess it is no more than a half mile walk.

The mall (entertainment center) parking ramps connect to the convention center ramps. You can walk from one to the other and take the skywalk to the convention center. If you go get a drink or something to eat in the entertainment district after the show, they'll validate your parking. I do it all the time for the Fanatics shows. Just follow signs for entertainment district.

The Aloft just a few blocks down from the Convention Center. Nice, clean, quiet boutique hotel with a swimming pool and essentially connected to the Entertainment District for dinner and outings in the evenings. This one is a no brainer IMO

The mall, Fashion Outlets of Chicago, has free parking... And plenty of cameras. If you park your car, and exit to get out and go to the convention center, you will either be booted, towed or, if they are feeling nice, slapped with a larger super sticky sticker calling you out. Not worth it.

You MIGHT be able to park, go through the mall, out another exit, and then make the extra long walk to the convention. But its not worth it to save $15

Yup! I think they asked about the mall though, not the Parkway Bank Park. If you park at the park, you will need to get your parking ticket validated somewhere to get out for free.

You would have to park at the back of the garage, by the District, make a purchase and get your ticket processed.

If you don't want to buy anything, you can always use the valet in the district. You get the valet service, and its just $10 VS $15 for standard self park. Its a fun little trick us locals play. And you avoid the garage all together. Just drive up to Fogo de Chao or Hofbrauhaus

Got a room there as well- Thu/Fri nights. Looks like a brewery in between there and the Center, might have to stop if I get thirsty on the walk.

Just be careful if you end up with room 118. There’s a gloryhole going from there into room 119 and it can be quite a surprise.

Know it. I was the one with the drill. =)

Unfortunately I made the hole too low on the account of my height and the only things I got were knee caps.

I'm at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare, is that a walkable distance to the convention center? There is no shuttle service.
