Mark, I see you found a bunch of Green logo sketches here and at photobucket. Could you please identify the artists? People like layron and Ted are recognizable others are not. Thanks!

Regarding the comment in your above linked post about the throwback cards. I received exactly one throwback blank, and if the rest of the artists also only received one. They are going to be very scarce.

Interestingly enough, my only throwback card, which is the middle card in the bottom row below, was on eBay for about a microsecond before someone snapped it up. I do not think the seller was aware that it was a much rarer throwback card sketch.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to snag it

Nice! When I start a sketch card, I never know how it's going to turn out. That was one of my nicer ones, I think.

Agreed, I love it! I also pulled two of your other green logo sketches including the mutant to the left of the retro sketch

Default Throwbacks

Mark, thanks for the link! The promotional materials always said Throwbacks are one per artist so ultra rare. It has a different back. Anyone want to put up a scan of the back so they can be identified by collectors and sellers? Unfortunately not lucky enough to get one.

The back is a detail of the 1962 box art and it says "Throwback Edition" under Sketch Card above the artist signature. You won't mistake it for any other card

FYI, Dana Black did TWO throwback sketches, and not every artist did one (but i'd say something like 95% did). In Dana's case, he was sent a pack of 50 sketches + 1 TB, and it got lost in the mail. We sent it a new package to him, and then later he received the first-- so he ultimately did 100 sketches and 2 TB's!

Some artists like Sam Kieth and Dan Brereton, for example, just did regular sketches. No creator's did TB sketches.

Just picked up this Russ Maheras sketch that's a great homage to one of my favorite Judge Dredd covers. Love this card:

I've always enjoyed Judge Dredd, and it was fun doing Dredd subset cards for the Mars Attacks Occupation series.

The sketch above is the only one I did so far of Judge Death. I do have an AP blank or two from this subset I still need to draw, and I might do Judge Death one more time, but it would be totally different than this card. Glad you like it!

Wow...that is a beaut. Something about the additional Martians in the background really helps sell it.

Here's my favorite from Neil:

Neil's work is amazing! Was thrilled when he asked to do a sketch card swap!

Wanted to share this new MA painting I just finished tonight. Much bigger than card size though!

Thought I'd share this double MAO sketch I had commissioned by Darrin Pepe. Its an homage to the 1950s E.C science fiction comics like Weird Science and Weird Fantasy. If your a fan of EC you will probably recognize the aliens' exclamations and the cover scene. Thanks again Darrin, for really nailing the scene.

Just bumping this thread to contrast with the treatment of Mars Attacks : The Revenge, the release of which is imminent and only 1 sketch seen so far (by far not as great at that posted by Devlyn just above).

Occupation was almost everything a fan could think of and already Invasion was a massive improvement on Heritage. What a difference one person can make (just look at post 1136 which was made months after he stopped working on the product)...

Almost no news to report. I've seen a post or two on the MA FB page and a mention or two from the two artists I've seen reportedly working on the set (Layron and Brent of GPK fame), but little else. Supposedly, sketch invites will go out soon. At this point, I haven't decided if I'll do any (or hell...will even be asked!!??).

Adam was the key player in the recent MA boom and without him, the last few sets wouldn't have happened. Along with myself (who had NEVER drawn a sketch card before), he invited many of the artists to participate who are sketch card regulars now. How will the upcoming sets be with new leadership....who knows?....

Thought people who like Mars Attacks might get a kick out of today’s TeeFury daily tee. It’s a Mars Attacks Martian in a Big Daddy Roth hot rod style.

Better now where Mars Attacks is concerned. Excited to hear of the plans for the new set. MA couldn't better hands!
