I’m tired of talking about this rookie class. Eloy is on a team nobody collects or cares about, same with Tatis. Both of those guys will need to produce at insane levels for anyone to sustain interest for very long, until another new shiny object hits over the next few years.

Vlad was underwhelming this year as well. Of the group, I think Alonso has the best upside, given the large NY market and the fact that he hits a lot of homeruns.

The Padres and the Sox both have a lot of young talent. Both teams could surprise with some decent free agent pick ups. Hell, they could both end up under .500 too.

Looking at current prices I’m thinking the big market thing is ancient history. People don’t seem to care if the team stinks anymore, as long as you have 40 bombs 100 plus ribs and an average north of 260. Oh and you’re under 25...

I love Alonso, have for a while. But there’s a solid chance this was a career year. Especially if they change the balls back. Tatis has the most upside career upside in my opinion. Premium position, massive power, and real nice speed. The Padres are also an organization on rise, being on the west coast hurts though. Vladdy has the highest upside as far as cards go. Unfortunately many Americans don’t seem to understand how big the Toronto market is. But a star Vladdy in Toronto is a bigger deal than Alonso on the Mets. If Vladdy hit 50 this year we’d never hear the end of it. Eloy is going to be a special hitter, but he can’t play the field. I also don’t think his power is much more than Tatis in the long run.

Tatis has the best all-around game if you take into account defense, baserunning, and the ability to hit for average.

Alonso & Vlad Jr. are just sluggers who will hit a ton of home runs while being below average in all other aspects of the game.

Vlad has the best chance to be the next Bo Jackson (football and baseball career). I kid. I think that big city markets don't matter any more now that there's 24/7 coverage of every team in the game as well as in the minors. Plus, it's all about what's the card/player going to do in the future. Can I buy low enough to make money?

If by “average” you mean .265

Agree w/defense and base running... but think Tatis is going to be power or nothing, unfortunately

He got very lucky this year, but xBA was mid-.200s

And he strikes out a ton

Same issues he had in the minors

His offensive output is very likely to take a hard slide next year
