I heard people saying that last year as well "he's only this good because he's been playing pro ball since he was 16" but I think it's the other way around, he was so good at 16 he was playing pro ball.

But you're right about the playoffs, that's really when it matters most.

Why would they tank though? Even if they tried to tank, they might get to what, the 10th spot with a healthy Luka?

If they continue with what they're doing, and they squeeze into the playoffs, then they would still be in the 15-18 range which could be a nice trade piece if they want to pick up a well rounded vet or get off of THJs contract in a trade.

They need someone who can play off the ball and is a shooter. And/or someone really athletic who can get to the rim for those easy lob dunks like MitchRob was doing to them last night. Powell is their poor man's version of that player. Also someone who is stalwart on defense. Ideally all 3 in one player but i'm not sure who that would be. Isaac would fit that mold.

What reason do they have to tank? And how would they tank enough to make it worthwhile? Sit Luka the rest of the season?

They have $22.6 mil in cap space for 2020-21 season if THJ doesn't opt in. It should be easy to find a player that would be dying to be Luka's teammate.

Porzingis needs to do everything he can to follow in the mold of Dirk and stretch the floor while providing more presence in the paint and on the glass. Isaac or Mo Bamba would be an excellent addition to this team, and allow Porzingis to play more of the finesse stretch-4 game he wants to.

On the bright side, I really like Finney-Smith & Delon Wright alongside Luka right now.

Dorian Finney-Smith and Delon Wright played 45 minutes last night. Neither of them have shown anything this season to suggest that they should even be in the NBA right now. Awful turnovers, awful shots, awful defense. Luka plays with a bunch of scrubs and Porzingis.

I didn't realize the Mavs also have 2 trade exceptions. One for $11.82 mil that expires Feb 7 2020 and one for $1.23 mil that ends Jan 31, 2020. Would definitely be helpful so they don't have to match salaries. Throw Courtney Lee ($11.24 salary) and the $11.82 mil trade exception in and suddenly you get a player making $23 mil in return. Obviously it is not that simple but you get the picture.

IMO Impeccable has a lot of room to grow. The eye appeal of that RPA is unmatched, and I think you could make the argument that it's the best looking of them all (except the NT Vertical RPA). So for that reason I think there is a ton of room to grow.

Excellent points and I appreciate the insight. I pretty much agree with your list entirely. I have yet to take a look at the immaculate rpa but I'm sure it's a beaut.

tanking wont really do them much good, too many teams out there that are in a way worse spot than Dallas could every be in 2019-20

They need to get Luka some help. Porzingis hasn't been playing great either. The rest of the team is garbage. It's like 1 against 5 out there. Even when they're doubling and tripling him guys can't even make wide open jump shots.
