Default Barnes and Noble 2019 Signed Editions

Good afternoon to my fellow BlowOut Collectors. Barnes and Noble released their Yearly signed book Editions today. Usually, these books are held back until Black Friday. Looks like they have a different strategy this year. Among the offerings they had were books signed by:

Michelle Obama
Hillary and Chelsea Clinton
Debbie Harry
Carlie Simon
Flea
Demi Moore
Rachael Ray
Paul Stanley
and...

Mr. Seth MacFarland

The beauty of this is that it's his full signature. I bought 4 of the 5 books they had in stock, My Son-in-law is getting one for Christmas. May use the others for trading pieces. Not too many people are aware of this sale so I would head on down to your local store and pick one up!

Just saw your post, I had just left my bn. They have them hidden in the back of the store.

I was super excited when I saw this post and went up to my local B&N. They had 4 copies of the book. All of the signatures are identical, exactly the same as the one you posted.

I feel another Reese Witherspoon situation about to happen.

They're not all in the same place on the page however, and the ones in my store have some differences

I didn’t even think of that. Will hold onto my receipt.

Sure looks like a stamp or autopen to me.

I was going to get one, but then I looked online for examples of his signature, and couldn't find one full signature example.

Going to ask Barnes and noble and the publisher if the signature was actually witnessed.

The Rachel Ray books also seem to be an autopen/stamp. Five books all had this identical signature.

Is this just not even a thing anymore? Like technically it’s “signed” but likely by a machine.

I picked up a copy of a signed history book for my dad's birthday, all the signatures were different, so it's not all of their signed editions

Sorry, didn’t mean to imply that everything isn’t real.

More just that it doesn’t seem to be a big deal to the celebrity or the retailer if the people don’t actually sign them.

Thanks for this thread. Wife and I just got home from BN and found everything we wanted, including the new Joe Hill which USPS lost when my wife preordered it months ago. Picked up Neil Gaiman, RL Stine, Joe Hill and Seth Mcfarlane. Also noticed his signature was in different places but always the same. Didn't see the replies until we already bought it. Still want the book, but sad if it is autopen.

Did other stores have them spread out all over the store in their respective sections? Years past they've always had a section for just signed editions, we had to hunt all over for them.

Thanks for the heads up with the Family Guy signature.

Anyone know the price difference between the fake signed book and the standard one?

Barnes and Noble doesn't normally charge any extra for signed copies.

Dukestr I do really appreciate you posting this. I picked up the Demi Moore book for myself and got an RL Stine book for my daughter.

It was a nice roller coaster of emotion from the first post to the next few showing they are likely autopen

I mean B&N would have to know they’re fake, right?

That’s a huge breach of contract if the signer lied, but potentially a fraud case if B&N knows but passes for signed.

However, they aren’t charging any more for them so I guess that’s why this isn’t a bigger deal.

Yeah, not really sure what kind of contract would be in place, hell it may even allow for it.

Its a crappy thing to do to your customers and fans but doubt anyone is going to get into trouble for it.

Yea that sucks, I’m going in a few and want to see if others are auto penned as well as there are many I would want.

How much does B&N charge for a “signed” book vs the normal edition?

Same as the normal book, no extra charge.
