Yup those guys- and Jonathan Isaac is hanging around them as well. As for guards, last time I looked Beverly was leading PIPM by a decent margin for guards, but I think he's fallen off a bit lately. Marcus Smart probably deserves to be in the convo also.

A total joke. Luka and Harden easily had better weeks.

As a non big, you have to be a lock down defender to start with. I don't consider Simmons a lock down defender, at all. Great at getting in passing lanes and getting steals, yes. Lock down defender, no.

You're completely wrong and haven't been watching all the games. And Simmons is a big. A big who can guard PGs.

If you expect him to be Prime Playoff Michael Jordan for 45 minutes a night then nobody is going to be.

I know it gets you all butthurt when anything remotely positive is said about Simmons, but your axe to grind is getting beyond pathetic.
It's really unbelievable at this point. And when Simmons and the 76ers win the title he'll be spewing the same nonsense about how Ben doesn't put up 40 like Harden. Or lose 4 straight to the Raptors when it counted like Giannis.

Please explain how he is a lock down perimeter defender.

Open to your perspective, I just don't see it.

Kawhi, yes. PG13, yes. Klay Thompson, yes. PB, yes. Cory Joseph, yes(homerism, but damn he has been impressive since Foxy went down).

Ah the Simmons Haters out every night the sixers play. Saying Simmons is a lock down defender is an understatement. He’s probably the second greatest defensive guard of all time after Gary Payton.

Ben Simmons is the only player in NBA history to guard every single position the 1-5 more than 10% of the time and hold each position under their points per 100 averages. He’s the only one who was effective against kawhi last year. He creates assists off of his defense better than any one in the league.

Also his defense is even better this year and he’s easily 1st team all defense + in the DPOY conversation. I know everyone here has no position to criticize or speak against this as none of them actually watch the games, every single time we win they are all completely silent and Ben won us the last game with his defense but none of them were watching so their opinions are as invalid as you can get.

Simmons got multiple steals as I was typing that comment.

Harden scored almost as many points against the Hawks as Melo did in 3 games..

Did you see what he did to Butler a week or so ago?

Or how about the 3 steals in 4 possessions to end the game vs Indy?

All while being able to lock down centers in post up situations.

He's been pretty lock down. Maybe not DPOY yet, but his skill set is quite unique.

We talking about Ben Simmons. The same Ben Simmons that was afraid to stay w/ Kawhi last year in game 7? That Ben Simmons? Just want to make sure that we are talking about #25, Ben Simmons. The same Ben Simmons who decided to let Embiid take Kawhi and then Ben guarded.....NO ONE?

Yeah, he's real good in big time moments. Here Joel, take him, I'll guard this empty space and watch our season end.

That Ben Simmons.

Oh my, I mean, oh my. Now we know all we need to know. The dudes played less that 2 1/4 seasons and he's the 2nd greatest defensive guard of all time. All time.

I just wanted to make sure you were serious. The rest of the Ben Simmons fan club may want to distance themselves from you.

Just saw Kawhi and PG's praise of Rui's game last night.

If he applies himself, he's going to be very special. He's so fundamentally sound.

Seriously. I love Ben, far from a hater. Plays the game the right way. But I will call a spade, well, a spade.

Now that rook Philly has that shut down Buddy Hield last week, that was lock down defense. Although Buddy is the worst ball handler I have ever seen that can put up 30 any given night.

Just proving you don’t know what you’re talking about. Kawhi shot 48% and under 30% on 3’s with Simmons on him in that series. His numbers with anyone other than Simmons guarding him? 72% and 37%.

Yes, absolutely agree. Like Collins w/ Portland as well. Both Gonzaga boys.

I'll stop way short of comparing Ben's defense to the all time greats... but running Kawhi into a waiting Joel Embiid in the corner and cutter off any back door passing lane was the right play.

There was 4.2 seconds when Leonard got the ball. I'm not sure you could have forced him into a more difficult shot that that, he just happened to make it.

Kawhi could barely walk that series, and still hit the game winner. The dagger. All while #25 watched.

To this day, I still don't understand what Ben was doing on that play.

The point is this. If he is the greatest defender of all time, like you say. Then why would the elite lock down defender defer to big and guard, NO ONE.

How did you get greatest defender of all time from second greatest defensive GuARD of all time? Do you not understand positions? Embiid is a better defender.
