Even though Zion is literally blasted on every B-Ball Panini product this year, his cards are extremely hard to pull. So far in $800+ spent on retail I have only pulled two base and one variation. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who's had this type of collation either. So I'd say there are alot less Zion cards out there than any other rookie. This might change once hobby boxes drops though.

I busted 5 blasters, 4 Walmart megas, 3 hangers, and I’ve only gotten one Zion (Instant Impact insert), and that was in the very first blaster I opened. Nothing since. I have also pulled zero Ja Morant cards. Not a single one. So either I am extremely unlucky, or it actually is harder to pull the top guys from retail. I should have a hobby box by the end of the week, so I can compare after that.

I bust wax every year and this is the first time I've ever thought the top guys were harder to pull. Very small sample size so I thought nothing of it but add that as a 3rd person who had that experience. 2 zion's in $500 of retail I busted, one was nice tho so all good.

3 Zion base in 12 megas and 10 hangers. Think I got extremely lucky on those at an average of 1 per every 4 megas, so can't complain.

Seems like I got an influx of certain rookies though. Culver and Langford? No problem.

Got the ultimate blue balling in one of my blasters. Slowrolled 2 silver rc's from the bottom to be greeted by the Pelicans team name, then the agony of a sideshow bob perm.

If Jaxson ends up being the next Anfernee Simons, I'm going to be rich beyond belief.

Fake news. I busted a hanger and a value pack and pulled a Zion and Ja.

Collation is always spotty. There was a guy that pulled multiple Zion silvers. Not sure how much he spent.

I feel I got lucky as well based on the feedback. I pulled 7 base Zion’s and a silver in 20 WM Mega’s. I have 20 more to go.

You guys need to realize how many actual base cards are in each box. Remove the inserts, silvers, greens, ices, etc - and there aren't as many base cards as you think.

Zion base RC's are not SP'd. It's just a matter of collation. I had as many as 8 of some RC (Barrett), and little as 2 (Herro). Had 6 Zion, I believe.

Chasing anything in sports cards is gambling. Zion is just as printed as everyone else and someone out there is hitting all of them and you are hitting none. Until you do. Just a taste though. At least you get some cool cards to look at, keep, or sell. Vegas is fun too.

You must’ve open much prizm before. You pulled the amount of zions your should have base on the averages. For example

If you bought $800 worth of cello packs that’s roughly 70 packs after tax.
If the collation is perfect

70 silvers - 1-4.2 chance of a Zion silver
70 greens - 1-4.2 chance of a Zion green
210 RWB - 1-1.4 chance at a Zion rwb
700 base cards (including inserts) and the base set is 300. 2 zions base is what you should expect

If you bought $800 worth of hangers that’s roughly 42 packs
42 silvers (if they are one per pack) - 1-7.1 chance at a Zion silver
42 greens - 1-7.1 chance at Zion green
168 orange cracked ice - 1-1.79 chance at Zion orange cracked ice
588 base including inserts - reasonable chance at 2 Zion base but very good chance you would only get 1

The zions aren’t any harder to pull than any other base card. They aren’t Sp’ed. I know everyone wants a Zion silver in every pack but that’s not even close to the odds. Everyone is hitting zions at the expected yet. Again they aren’t sp’ed. If you do the math on how much you have spent you’ll see most people are getting the expected returns.

I’ve hit 6 base zions yet only one Coby White! Finished 1 300 card set. Really wish the set was a bit smaller lol.

Thanks for the statistical breakdown and insight. It just bugs me out that I can pull 6 Tyler Herro cards as well as 6 Romeo Langfords in the same $800 lot. Guess I was just meant to collect both of their cards.

I have pulled 3 Zion base
2 Zion silvers
2 Morant Base
3 Barrett Base
1 Barrett silver
In 17 Blasters from both Walmart and Target and 2 of the 24 pack retail boxes
Also inserts etc - also pullsd a Deandre Hunter silver and other RC silvers of power players
But the boxes have been good to me so far
Have 8 target mega boxes coming still
I have already paid for the boxes and am running on house money now

$900 spent

Zion - 3 base, 1 green
Ja - 4 base
RJ - zero base/color

People thinking Zions are tough to hit because they didn't hit any in $500 worth need to realize that $500 worth is actually a very small sample size for retail. Rip 3 or 4 cases of cellos and see what the counts look like.

NVM. I just saw the other thread and compared the checklists.

The prizm checklist on the Panini site is missing the White Sparkle, Red Ice, Pink Ice, Orange Ice and Green Ice. Interesting.

I bust tons of prizm retail every year its is basically the only product i break and i can tell you i too feel the top rookies are very sp this year as compared to last year.
last year i hit almost 10 lukas and years before i hit multiple top rookies from every year in about the same amount of product.

so far this year i have opened
10 wal mart megas
30 cello fat packs
32 hangers

here is my break down

zion base - 1
zion silver - 0
zion rwb - 0
zion pink ice - 0
zion green - 0
and the list goes on i hit 1 zion base card thru all that and 2 emergent and 1 instant impact.
i hit 1 ja morant base and nothing else and hit ZERO rj barrett base but did hit 1 silver and 1 pink ice.
but i got 6-9 of lots of other rookies no one wants.
pretty sad
