What evidence do you have that this board has influence over the market?
I am genuinely open to this one as I just don't see it. Optic is definitely shilled here, even to the point where it's irrational as there are other better undervalued cards at this point but it also was being shilled all over instagram and podcasts so it's not that surprising. You see how much of an effect podcasts and guys like Gary V can have on shilling stuff. On the other side of that, there are plenty of cards that are undervalued which are exploding right now that this board doesn't even mention or seem to be aware of. I mean if people talk about cards enough they're bound to correctly guess where the market is going sometimes but I don't see how this board has influence over the market, especially compared to other forms of media like Podcasts that I can notice it with. I especially don't see how anything would have long-term impact. I don't really care much for that side of the hobby so feel free to prove me wrong.

The Kings really have to use this as a way to boost their confidence and execution. They constantly play great in 2 or 3 quarters, just to lose the lead or get blown out in the remaining 1 to 2 quarters. Ever since their horrid 0-5 start (without their top 2 players and Bogdanovic at times), they have rarely been outclassed and blown out. In fact, they often have double digit leads that they cough up similar to tonight. Otherwise, they'll be in a competitive back and forth game, just to play terribly for a stretch to go down by double digits and get themselves out of the game.

Even though it was ugly, hopefully fighting off the mavs will push them in the right direction when it comes to playing a full 48 minutes of quality basketball.

We see differently if you don’t think this forum had anything to do with the Optic or Prizm spikes. They seemed to correlate shortly after threads that got attention were made. People on here definitely like to hype their own stash, but I don’t know about actual shilling of any Optic. I know the one parallel I collect spiked in price, and I thought it was artificial, but soon realized that the new interest is here to stay and I need to pay up to stay in it. The auctions I thought went way high were won by members here... no shilling.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong... Shilling is placing artificial bids to inflate auction prices, not hyping your stuff. I do think there was some artificial hype at play with Optic, but also feel the recognition was a long time coming. I have posts from a couple years ago favoring Optic over Prizm, so while I was surprised to see the major spike, it wasn’t entirely unforeseen.

Yep, i think that Optic was more of an awakening because it was due and a lot of people thought the same way. I think that thread probably did help a little too though.

Shilling is a word used in all sorts of realms of life to mean a spokesperson or a shill for a certain product/company, it doesn't just refer to shill bidding and that is not what I am talking about. It's proper use of the English language.

Yeah I see a lot of artificial hype of Optic, people coming in and creating in 1 post accounts to say stuff, stuff like that, it's really funny. I doubt it actually effected the market, as you could tell ahead of time it was undervalued at one point. I feel the same way, the stuff I thought/think was undervalued turns out to be true most of the time not because of some hype thread but because of how the market works. I don't really know, too me this place seems like the same 10-20 people posting every day so I don't see how it can impact such a large market. I have my doubts but I don't doubt that everyone believes it does since you see so much shilling on these boards.
