Evan Mathis Trimming Anything and Everything to Sell via Probstein, PWCC, & COMC

I have been too wrapped up in life to follow as closely as I would like these past few months, but everytime I find time to come to this site, I get more and more angry at these guys. I got scammed on a 34 Gehrig, so please understand I am asking a few strategic questions, not sympathizing and definitely NOT condoning. Here goes:

Have there not been any arrests yet because technically the trimmers are just submitting to grading services, who are grading them 1 to 10, and then the trimmers are just selling a card that has a grade 1 to 10? They are reselling a grade which carries monetary value at the core of the scam, not grading the cards themselves. Meaning, what they are doing is devious and scandalous and deceiving, but the EASILY PROVEABLE IN COURT “fraud” would be misrepresentation of service from the TPGs for misgrading and not performing the services they are charging for.

The lack of short term follow through on the trimmers is maybe because they are harder to prosecute because while they are lyiing and cheating, they ultimately are just reselling a graded opinion, and it’s harder to PROVE IN COURT that they actually pulled the handle on the paper cutter than it is to show deception of services by the TPGs? So strategically if you are the FBI, you pressure the hell out of the trimmers to take a deal and turn and testify on the TPGs because a federal prosecutor has more interest in consumer advocacy/fraud than locking up a bunch of fat, middle aged men in 25 separate court cases?

I am not a lawyer, but it seems way harder and more expensive to prosecute the trimmers than it is for prosecuting a TPG selling a fake/phony/fraudulent service to consumers. Like it seems you’re getting into like 25+ criminal cases at this stage, or you could just file 3 and fine the TPGs for not selling the service they provide with the help of 25 guys turning state’s evidence for a slap on the wrist and a fine.

I fear the trimmers survive in order to kill the TPGs, which means the amoeba lives and multiplies. Unless you can get 25 guys to point their unique gun to encompass each of the other 24 people in the group, a lot of theses guys are gonna get away with it and survive and remain in the hobby.

Am I being too pessimistic?

I get what you're saying and I used to think like that too. Even before BODA, I was aware of a fair number of altered cards, the vast majority of them in the 2k and up value range. But after reading all the threads on trimming here, I've come to understand that someone who will trim a $5 card will trim anything. Any card. Any condition. It's sick.

Basically said everything was wrong, made jokes with reddit so they upvote him (and he has a verified flair). Prodded but he won't comment on the OP because he's 'anonymous' like all these trimmers have a script for initial defense.

nm to nm-m to m to gem mint (real close to "splitting hairs")

number 1) they are dealing with better "canvases" or cardboard if you will

and number 2) payoff SKYROCKETS
