Yes, I dont get this.

Do the Jays think they are close? Just doesn't seem necessary.

Good question. My guess is the ability to flip him down the road played into it. And they have an awful staff.

Nobody is trading for ryu with 3 years 60 mil left or 2 years 40 mil left when he’s 34 or 35.

Imagine thinking that Ryu (who basically never lasts a full season) is better and has more upside than wheeler. L m a o

You realize what starting pitchers get now?

He's definitely better than Wheeler right now. I'm very skeptical that Wheeler puts it all together. Maybe Philly helps him do that. But the Phillies (or Girardi, or Price) aren't exactly known for their ability to develop pitching.

What’s up with everyone thinking Wheeler is so good? Because he’s not that great, definitely not for the money.

As their sole reason? No. But it's a contract they can move if they aren't competing in a year or two. Obviously they'd love to have him as a 1 or 2 on a playoff team.

Wouldn't shock me to see them in the wild card mix. Especially with Bos and Cle taking a step back

That lineup's got some potential.

They added Chase Anderson and Roark, and are supposedly in on Price. It's not great, but it's a hell of a lot better than what they had last year.
