Only if you aren't a preferred submitter. Case in point: OCSI.

True. But think about how much money they can make even if they just start doing this a little. If I submit 10 cards and even 1 gets returned "altered" and I know it wasn't because I pulled it, you can bet I'm going to resubmit it. I think most would.

Presumably the second card only got a 5 because the top left corner in the second picture is significantly worse than it was in the first one. Of course it could just be me.

I think the top left is the same, but the saturation differences in the scans is making the untrimmed look especially sharp.

A very small Bench. One trimmed edge noted. Can't tell if the other edges have been cleaned up as well due to the photos.

I’m not sure Evan Mathis would make the Top 100 Eagles of all time. I’m serious.

You can say whatever you want about his business dealings in the hobby, but trying to take a jab at his career (which was a very successful career btw) is just asinine and does nothing to further the discussion and makes you look completely stupid. Spending 11 years in the league as an OL and being a top guard for 4-5 of those years. I would leave the NFL credentials out of any argument about sports cards.

Agree 100%.

This is the type of stuff the herd will do at an elementary school playground.

I think we can agree on that. He did have a good career. I think it would be a fun challenge to see what the Eagles Top 100 would look like. He probably would actually crack the Top 100. Barely.

11 years? That’s a long time. You couldn’t pay me to play football with basically everyone getting CTE.

symptoms[of CTE] include social instability, impulsive behavior, and poor judgment.

Short list of accomplishments. 11 years to gain a 1/4 tank of gas and some hair.

I wonder how many people have been victimized by Evan’s CTE, you know, Card Trimming Eagle

EVERYONE is a victim. Either directly or indirectly.

You own a graded card. You are a victim.

Loss of trust in graded cards.

Loss of value.

We all are victimized by this crime.

We all have a right to be part of a class action lawsuit.

Fixed that for you, Card Trimming Egomaniac.

His responses have demonstrated that he believes that he is untouchable, which until some definitive action in this whole saga goes down, might be very sadly true.

99.9% chance the FBI is already looking into Mr Mathis. Probably the best thing to happen to this trimming scandal, have a big name tied to it.

That post summarized my feelings quite succinctly.

Even though I only grade my own pulls, and try to squeeze some profits... we all suffer.

Same here. My graded card collection is from my own personal 40 years of collecting and these are mostly cards I have sent in myself. I have only purchased a few graded cards and I can only hope that none of my collection has been in the wrong hands.

It is sad to know that is difficult to prove however.

In the spirit of the holidays, a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all the card doctors, the sellers enabling them, and the TPGs and other major industry participants playing ostrich for causing so much anxiety and consternation among us collectors, and for not caring one whit. Thank you!!

As more and more dirt is uncovered, I'm looking forward to some corrective action, in the near future.
