Default Official Cards of the Decade Master Awards Master Thread

Well guys, we've almost done it... we're about to close a chapter on the 2010's, and as a we look back on the what was maybe the biggest boom in basketball card collecting ever (as least since the mid 90's), it's time for us to vote on the best of the decade.

With the help of a few members here, I've chosen 10 categories, listed below.

I will open up a new thread for each, with a poll, tomorrow, and leave voting open for a set period of time (few days).

Once the polls are all completed, and we have picked the 'best of' the decade, I will consolidate into the master thread to look back on as years go by.

Here are the 10 categories, and nominees I've gathered from feedback I've gotten here on Blowout will be posted below. More specifics will be given in the individuals threads, but feel free to add nominees to this list once they are posted if you really feel like they should be considered the best of.

Categories:

-Best Base Rookie

-Best High End Rookie

-Best Veteran Card

-Best Parallel Set

-Best Auto/Patch Set

-Best Insert Set (non auto, non patch)

-Best Breakthrough Product

-Product of the Decade

-Hobby Player of the Decade

-Card of the Decade

I'm going to let you decide the criteria for how you want to vote, whether it be based on the most iconic cards, valuable cards, meaningful cards, or cards you just like best.

***I will be uploading the early nominees below. It'll take me some time so check as I update Let's have some fun guy and get some good discussion going***

A few to consider. Some obvious some maybe not so obvious

parallel: Optic Holos, Revolution Galactic

Insert set: Kaboom

Breakthrough products: Optic, 17-18 Essentials (I know it was 1 off but very popular among collectors at least)

Product of the decade: Prizm, NT

Hobby player of the decade: Lebron, Curry, Luka, Giannis

I'd consider categories to get more than 8 players represented.

Maybe Best Photography - Player, Best Photography - Set, etc

Good thought. I think that could come through in categories like Best Product and Best Breakthrough Product, or best Auto/Patch set

Is insert parallel too much? I’m a huge fan of the Showstoppers Galactics. I don’t think the Showstoppers by themselves merit a nomination, though.

Ohh man... that's a whole can of worms I hadn't even thought of.

It'd be hard to call it out specifically. If you did, we'd have to consider Prizm USA Silver and Gold, etc.

It can be represented in 3 categories though... Break through Product, Best Product, and Best Parallel.

If there's one specific card you think is the best, I could include it in 'Best Veteran card".

There isn’t a specific card... I don’t think one stands alone for the Showstoppers Galactics. And I definitely agree the Prizm USA parallels are some of the best Panini has to offer, and I’m not even a Prizm fan. I don’t really have a good solution here... probably easiest not to dive that far into it because then where does it end?

I guess what I can do is include the parallels as part of the insert set

See edit up top, and thanks!

I dont think the voting thread for insert has been made yet, so a couple suggestions:

15-16 Rookie Revolutions: I know it is a rookie insert set, but the photography is incredible and the great revolution design. Only issue may be that they look very similar to the base.

Something from Hoops should be a nominee, in my opinion. Hoops inserts are incredibly designed. I personally like 16-17 hoops, particularly End 2 end and lights, camera, action.

I also echo the 2018 le cinque piu belle
