Just got my 3 sets from eBay.

The good was real good. 1st set greens of ja, Coby and pj. 2nd set green Zion! 3rd set Kendrick nunn.

The bad: centering on 95% of base cards were badly OC top to bottom. The green waves had issues - my ja and nunn both have surface issues. In addition, many of my base (including 2 zions) has parts where the wave technology didn’t print, leaving a regular optic/silver are.

Quality control on my 3 sets is laughable. Nothing gradeable (due to centering) that I’m seeing, though I’ve only gone thru the rookies.

I just looked online and you are right. Almost everyone is off top to bottom. How can Panini not get this right?

Better than your fanatics optic set page that you were so clearly using as the Bible....with that date changing each and every day.

I’ve had time to go through every set, card by card. Some very interesting stuff.

-each lebron had surface scratches in the middle part of the bottom third of the card
-some rookies are centered decent, like thybulle, nickeil, and a few others.
-vet centering isn’t as bad as the rc’s, but still an issue with many
-the greens have so many possible issues, surface scratches on front, indents on the left edge on back of card, etc. I’m gonna take a chance and send in my zion, but feel i need a lot of luck to gem
-gonna send in 10 rc to psa from the 3 sets, most don’t meet the standard I use when sending but I’m hoping to get 70% gem. We’ll see

Overall, extremely lucky to hit Zion and morant green waves. I’m hoping my sets are the outlier in terms of centering, issues, etc.

I come from a manufacturing quality background- six sigma, Lean Flow, continuous improvement, etc. This much damaged product getting into packs in every single type of product Panini releases is unacceptable. I sent a 58 card replacement order to them yesterday. Just like with the Prizm I sent back, I refuse to let them slide with this.

Well dang I was hoping to open one of mine and pick out some rookies to send to grading, now I’m skeptical lol

I hope my sets are the exception. Because I have 20 more coming, and I too was hoping to grade quite a few.

Perhaps I evaluate them too critically, but I like to be confident in them gemming.

What is your experience sending them back? My green ja, and then 2 of the 3 base for Zion and ja have print defects. I’m hesitant to send them back.

I will say this. I love Optic. I have bought it religiously each year since its first release. I also really like the Fanatics set. I think it is a cool idea and adding the green Parallel for the RR is a nice touch. I should have bought one for myself because I am a huge fan of shiny Parallels and sets for that matter. I will not pay over 100 for it though. So maybe I never get one. I think many people will open looking for a Green Zion, but The fact every card in the set is a parallel and not just the RR is awesome.

My only issue is - with so many parallels out there in addition to the premium set which undoubtedly will come out soon there is soooooo much. I have a hard time believing prices are sustainable. People are going to have to choose what they want to collect. And with so much product inevitably nearly all products will suffer. The fanatics set remind me of the old Target Mega box where you got the entire RR flash set in each box. The best thing about this is for 30 more if you paid full price you got the entire set plus 5 Green Parallel. A very nice and valuable addition at the moment.

I do like the Fanatics set, but it is one of 40 parallel optic sets and for me that is too much. This could have been similar to the old Tiffany Topps Release sets, #ed and exclusive but wait, they already have that in the premium box. This product allows people a cheaper version of that but in way larger quantities. I Hope everyone is ready for either dutch auction or $1,000 premium set prices this year as Panini is obviously paying attention to the market.

For those that bought these they will turn a profit easily and that is great. I am just surprised at how irrational this market has become. Even for Optic. Which last year was an afterthought. Now all of the sudden it is a TOP 3 product??

About a 60% replacement rate for me. The cards they have sent back to me saying they don't warrant a replacement is laughable. Panini is a complete joke of a company, manufacturing wise, customer service wise, and pricing wise.

If they have defects send them back, IMO. This is a complete set that should not have major errors.

Agree. For comparison, topps factory sets have been night and day different. Bought 80 sets this year, rarely any issues at all. Yet my 3 panini sets were a complete mess, and multiple different types of issues/damage.

Exactly. I havent had nearly as many issues with damaged cards out of Topps product.

Opened my 3 sets today. Should have left them sealed and resold them. I did get a Rui green but has issues. No one else worth mentioning. The quality on the base set was all over the place. Most have real bad centering top to bottom or left to right. Also a lot of surface scratches. Not horribly upset as I got them for 100.00 a set from a local friend who opened only 1 of his and had similar issues. I feel for anyone who thinks these will gem mint as they are far from that. But I consider myself lucky in one way, as I did get them at a decent price. But for the people who dropped 200.00 - 250.00 a set on these may not be as
forgiving.

It’s bad when all cards are gem. This is a good thing.

I agree, and I don’t think anyone is arguing that. The quality control with these sets is bad from what I’ve seen. There’s no excusing that.

It’s not damaged sets.

It’s issues with specific cards. 2 of my 3 zion base had printing defects (will try to put up a pic but it’s not a priority). There were 10-15 other cards in each set with the same defect.

Panini should, and I assume will, replace cards with that type of issue.

i dont think Panini should replace them, as this was a specially produced set.

return your sets for a full refund

also, never open them! lol
