Don’t buy hangers. They stink.

Blasters on the other hand, not too shabby. My one blaster today produced this tough hit...

Finished up my case tonight. As I said earlier, this was my first time ever ripping an entire case of one product. I'm mostly a Cubs and Angels collector, but I have built a master set of Heritage since 2018. I wanted to test to see if a case would get me closer to building a master set without having to hunt down too much to complete it. I am a bit disappointed at the amount of duplicates and triplicates I received in the inserts. (I haven't sorted out the SPs yet). I also have no idea why they needed to put three identical Jeff McNeil relics and two chromes into one case.

But on to the good, overall I am pleased. Couple of throw-away autos, but I can't believe this is now the third Vlad auto I have managed to pull since last year! Also pretty stoked about the Yordan action. I'm not sure what to do with some of these parallels. Never pulled a gold refactor /5 before, but it would be better if were a bigger name (maybe find a Paddack super collector?). Also ended up with a Shane Bieber flip stock.

I've got 20 actions on the way. Still need most of the big guys, but I haven't spent over $8.25 on a single card yet.

A Soto throwback in 8 blasters is a lot better than not too shabby!

Most of the way through my case - finding a consistent abrasion/scratch even to dented chipped top front edge on about 70% of my cards.

Not apparent on any chrome and doesn't appear to be the issue on any of the 3 autos, but does show up on base, RC's, SP's and Actions.

Looking to see if anyone else has run into this issue, and also what's the best approach with Topps?

Just send the cards I care about for replacement? Send in everything?

Thanks

What is the consensus on the chrome mega boxes coming out in a few weeks. Is this a new product for heritage?

Almost $100 per box of this stuff seems insane. I'm curious if anyone is in the same boat as I am!
I went from 8 cases of Topps products in 2018 to zero this year. I’m generally willing to “pay to play” but this is getting out of hand.

One hundred dollar hobby box - Trout base was biggest hit, disaster. Around here, there is still 2019 heritage retail on shelves. I have a feeling 2020 will be sitting here all year long

The boxes came out last year for the first time. Saw about 5 2019 mega boxes at my local WM yesterday. The chrome cards are the second tiers so not much value. The white border chromes will fall easier than hobby but then who cares about the second tier cards. With the collation of retail, could be just as expensive to build a set than a hobby case.

With only 1 box, not sure what your expectation would be.....1 relic or auto and around 200 cards from a 500 card set (including SP's)

I'm hoping ... *hoping* ... this stuff will come down to ~$75/box at some point. I'd love to rip a case or two at that price.

The mega box chrome checklist is actually a lot better this year. It is still nowhere near the hobby checklist obviously, but has some pretty good names like Moncada, Posey, Freeman, Altuve, Kershaw, Bryant, Arraez, Betts, Robles, Chavis, Bregman, Stanton etc. Last year's has literally 5 guys worth pulling and then a huge dropoff with way too many players of the Lou Trivino and Daniel Palka ilk. I'd go as far as to say that this years mega actually looks like a pretty good buy.

My break had the last card in every pack with a bent corner. None went as far as creasing, but many were very obvious; to where you could easily see space if you stacked a card on top. This included a couple of the big RCs. I will be sending all back, along with my stack of damaged S1s.

Also had a quite a few where the top edge was somehow warped, so that the light reflected oddly. Although I couldn't actually spot the damage. I won't be sending those back.

I don't know if this has been discussed yet; but Topps needs to replace actions with another gimmick. Now that we are in the 70's, base cards will have action shots making these so much less special/desirable. What do you guys think? Am I in the minority with this thinking? I honestly didn't even think about it until I busted a few boxes!

Question do the mega boxes have the same checklist as the retail? Hobby? I found the checklist for the mega chrome boxes and I didnt see any chrome Trout Acuna Bichette Alvarez etc ....... so I'm assuming that the chrome is the only thing that differs from the main checklist (with the exception of hobby only), correct

You can still pull Regular Chromes from the Packs. The inserted Chrome Pack has the Exclusives

Interesting, I didn't realize that. I just figured it was like Bowman mega where the regular packs didn't have any of the good stuff. Anyone have an idea how the pack odds for the mega compare to hobby?
