Figured this could use it's own thread.
Sixty-four players were seeded and placed in four divisions, as we've begun the quest to find the best player in baseball. We voted for our first-round choices this past week, and the results are in. Thirty-two players remain, and cards are available for these players. Unfortunately the rookies have been eliminated, so you won't be getting cards of Gavin Lux, Yordan Alvarez or Bo Bichette (the right choice for a realistic bracket, but the wrong choice for Topps to make a few extra bucks). You only have two days to snag your "Surviving 32" Trout, Acuna and Alonso cards! https://www.topps.com/cards-collecti...psnow.html?p=1

Print run was released for the first 32 cards. Trout is the biggie with 1,083 copies, which is no surprise. Trevor Story is the smallest with 112 cards. Tatis has 246, Alonso 382, and Acuna 432.

Has there been an upset in any of the rounds thus far? It seems Topps should just cut to the chase and pit their four #1 seeds against each other.

Topps really dropped the ball by not having a Rookie Division. Eight of the 32 card printed this week could have been the hottest rookies in the hobby... And in the Final Four, Yordan Alvarez would have been defeated by Mike Trout or Ronald Acuna. Maybe Topps'll consider this if they do it again next year.

The rookies they put in were low seeds against people they couldn't beat. Not smart if you are trying to sell cards. |

I like the subtle use of colors on these cards...blue on previous set, purple today...expect red for final 4, orange for finalists then gold for winner.

Lucky for Topps! The smallest print run for Yelich was 170, and 162 for Scherzer. For those who don't know, this is posted on the Topps website:
Purchase every card for a specific player, and if that player makes it to the Top 4, receive a Silver Bonus Card! If your player wins the Bracket Bonanza, receive a Gold Bonus Champion Card! (*purchase 1 card of player, receive 1 bonus card, purchase 5 cards of player, receive 5 bonus cards, etc.)

So, people were able to vote on the players without buying the card itself, and they were also able to vote multiple times??
I only found about the Trout loss to Yelich just now (as well as Acuna to Scherzer), and am really surprised.

You should have had to vote with your purchase, not free. Cost Topps a lot of $$$ |
