I think the issue is that while I think they're great, they don't really work for me as something I'm holding in my hand for the sole purpose of having it. I consume the entire purpose of the piece in a second. It's not complex, and not trying to achieve something with simplicity. It's an attempt at humor. It works well. But that's it. This would work better on the wall of my office or something like that.

I'd say now. The last time there was a Trout PR released (Thiele at 13.2K), that made a BIG jump overnight for the Ermsy trout price. I think the Ben Baller could beat Thiele in PR, and I think that would make for another overnight price increase. Granted, the Ermsy Trout came down a bit after the dust settled, but it still landed higher than it had been the previous week.

I appreciate your insight! I think even if these prices declined slowly over time and it was worth $100 I wouldn’t feel I “lost” buying a copy at these leaves. I really like it, I really wish I had known about this lol

Until someone in the know says otherwise, all those cards Ermsy is signing are already counted in the original PR. Each one he signs makes one less unaltered base card.

I hope he finds ways to sign more. Why wouldn’t he? It’s a very lucrative money maker for him, and it could raise the value of the base cards at the same time.

Totally agree, gaudy is a good description. I also don't like how he signs his name in 2 ways (a BB and also the imo stupid "Ben Baller did the card").

For the Trout it looks like Bowman Inception combined with a basic white girl pic in front of an angel wing mural to me lol

FWIW, if you have a business license, you can get a sales tax exemption. My first order I also got a 10% off coupon, putting my per-card tally to $13 and change. I'm sure that if you were a big spender or good at dealing you could get that 10% as a permanent discount. I highly doubt that any of the sellers on ebay @ $17 are losing money. My guess is that the people selling at that $17 floor on ebay are breaking even on the sales and are making it up on the backend by getting chances at the 1/1s for 'free', thereby making it worth their while.
