kobe finest refractor rc or topps chrome rc?

i got about $1300 to spend on a kobe RC ;my choices are

9.5 bgs topps chrome rookie non refractor

or

ungraded topps finest refractor w/ peel (ok centering, appeara to be sharp corners)

i like both but can only afford one. in terms of appeal, scarcity and potential investment, which one offers the best balance?

A Kobe Topps Chrome BGS 9.5 for $1,300 sounds like an awfully good deal.

hmmm...i was thinking the opposite lol, i haven’t found a kobe finest refractor below $1800 on ebay for months now

You're talking about the base that says Apprentices on the side, correct?

They are going up but it looks to me like the Chrome is a much better deal.

And if this is a scan of the actual card it looks like it has refractor lines going both ways at the bottom

I used to think the world of the Topps Chrome RC, but over the years seeing how it is SUPER high maintenance and discolors green/yellow, it is such an unflattering card now. The ones that are discolored are only going to be worse. And you think yours is not discolored, if you see any highlights of color beginning to show on Cherokee Park's leg, that's the beginning of the end for your Chrome card. For a Kobe RC, it certainly is undervalued. But it definitely is an eye sore now.

The Finest RC can certainly discolor, but it happens far fewer than the Chrome RC. I would go for the Finest Refractor instead.

Gotta be at least $7K. Considering the prices of everything else right now...it SHOULD probably be at least double. I mean, Giannis Silvers are over $17K now...

Last one I’ve seen sold was mid-February for $6,600. Probably quite a bit higher now.
