the "problem" with Griffey and Jeter is, Topps was forced to use their Topps RCs, which are not even close to their "most popular" RCs

the 2011 Update Trout on the other hand, changed the collecting game entirely

This would not be an issue so long as Topps does not mind giving its profits on the card to Upper Deck.

In my opinion only, using the tools I created for myself and continuous tracking/analysis, I suspect the bottom has been mostly established for the lower print and earlier cards.
