I have said this before but I think UBI only helps monetary problems short term. If the government was wanted to solve this issue it would fund education. Those children's future children won't be in the back if their parents are provided opportunities. I believe in the saying give a man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to fish he eats for an eternity.

Also, get this...a lady I work with's daughter and her friend(in Brookfield, Wisconsin) met in downtown Milwaukee after work to a protest march and BOTH had their car windows was smashed open and their stuff was stolen including phones, a laptop and $$. They only took their ID's with them to march.
Two naive suburban girls who didn't think to hide their stuff in the trunk when they're in a part of town that's not familiar to them.

That's an interesting one. Although we rely less on dependence of OPEC do you know the more you saturate the oil market the more difficult it is for oil companies to stay in business. This includes USA, Russia and OPEC. Oil was too low in price even before Corona and after coronavirus there won't be many USA companies left. On top of that your tax dollars will be in the bail out program.

totally agree on the better training on police. bigger issue is the justice system.

my father always told me " don't you ever steal, but if you ever do, steal big" you go to jail for shoplifting but get a slap on the wrist for embezzling usually.

I don't disagree with this. As I said, there are no easy answers. A more educated citizenry would be welcome.

if you look at his questions it shows this is more of a economic issue than a race issue really. its lack of money and opportunity that is the main issue, and that hits people of color more. some people do have more advantages than others. nothing will ever change that. i'm not privileged cause i'm white, i'm privileged cause i grew up on the lower middle class spectrum opposed to poor.

I 100% agree with this and really like that video and the way the message was communicated. As someone who grew up lower middle class and has ascended to middle class and will ascend to upper middle and hopefully upper, I want to give my children the best possible starting point. I want to start them at the 50 yard line. That’s just the way life is.

And I recognize my head start is greater than the head start of the majority of black people in America. I’m not sorry for that, but I do recognize it and it is real. That said, I’ll outwork anyone any day, and every single one of us should have the same belief. As a matter of personal philosophy, I don’t believe in excuses. I’m not sure what the point was anyway. That the only reason the conversation skews conservative is due to sheer numbers? That’s not what I’m seeing. I’ve only been in this thread for a few days, but I see a lot of facts and data being posted by the more conservative crowd and a lot of the same Orange Man Bad type stuff being posted by the more liberal crowd that has been repeated for a while now. There’s a massive disparity in the content of the posts. I’ve learned a lot in this thread so far, but very little from the liberal posters. It’s more like wading through garbage.
