Default Card Identification Help: Jason Kidd 1994 Classic Draft

About a month ago my mom dropped off a plastic container full of different things that was taking up too much space in her house and she wanted me to take it. I didn't look into container until recently and am having trouble finding information on this specific card and perhaps a value check.

I know the card is a 1994 Classic Draft Dick Vitale PtP'ers but nowhere can I find the odds of this auto or any other similar listings.

Below are four pictures.

My step father and I went to the National in St. Louis in 1995 and I'm thinking maybe this was like a gift bag card because the case is the same as the Marshall Faulk card. Besides that I am a bit clueless on it. I'm back in the hobby now at 38 and it's been fun.

Other contents of box: 1995 sealed Magic The Gathering deck (never played), (2) autograph Michael Jordan baseballs (grandma sent him a letter in Birmingham with two rawlings balls, a rep responded but he wouldn't sign Rawlings so he sent back two balls signed), a Dan Marino oversized Upper Deck 300 career touchdown cards and some 90's baseball cards in top loaders.

It's been 25 years just sitting there.

Any help would be appreciated

I remember that card but I don't believe it came in packs with an auto.

Also, I would be pretty wary of that auto as it doesn't look like a legit Kidd auto to me.

We didn't buy it. It was given to us in like the entrance grab bag.

We were poor. The ticket and trip was expensive enough for us.

I would agree looking at his newer auto's but I did find some mid-late 90's autos and they all look pretty much the same as this one.

Just have never seen another auto for this card. Maybe it was a National only thing.

It's been sitting for 25 years in a box. Maybe I'll let it sit for another 25.

I remember distinctly pulling Glenn Robinson (I was 12 and it was a big hit at the time)

That’s an aftermarket autograph

I have no idea if legit just saying it wasn’t packed pulled

Yeah, I've never seen an auto on that card either. I'm not going to claim to be an expert on Kidd autos but this one just doesn't appear right because I can't recall seeing another where all of the letters are clearly spelled out like that.

Would be really cool if it turns out that it's a legit auto though!

Oh I understand. I’m not trying to sell the thing I just know it was given to us when we entered the National way back then including that Faulk card that is classic as well but has National info on the back of it.

I was 13 that summer.

The one distinctive thing I remember is buying an OJ mugshot calling card lol and meeting Rhonda Adams a playboy playmate. When you’re 13 you remember that pair lol

I got him as a rookie in ‘94 after he got drafted..he used to connect the J and K back then

Agreed. This is an in person auto I got from Kidd soon after the draft.

If that in person auto is legit what a sensational card! When I was a midget I absolutely adored these 'PTPers' cards. Still do.

As other members said, 100% certain that isn't a pack pulled auto. But I do believe he did have an auto card from that product, hand numbered to 1994. Not sure in what format or if it was a Promo. Classic was so strange. It could have been inserted in the pre-priced packs. I know for certain the auto in the hobby boxes was Big Diesel Shaq - 1 in 17,000ish packs

My suspicious mind thinks that whoever had that signed was genius to have the appropriate pen on hand to sign that specific cards surface...

I really liked that PTPer insert set too! In fact I just bought a cheap lot of Kidd inserts in April that happened to include that card.

Another one of my favorite Classic insert sets featuring Kidd was the High Voltage insert.

No idea about the auto but yep PTPer set ruled hard

I remember there were also the rookie of the year sweepstakes cards where if your guy won ROY you won something, I pulled the “the field” card and when Hill and Kidd split it I was convinced my card should be the winner. Man, I haven’t thought about that in 20 years probably

I literally have the same exact card with Jason’s auto. Give me until tonight to dig it up from my collection and attach a photo. I believe I mailed it to Jason Kidd versus pulling an auto.

Cool I'd be curious to see it.

We got it from a swag bag going into the 95 national. I wouldn't have even known who Jason Kidd was then. Heck the Marshall Faulk card I didn't really know who he was either. All baseball kid at that time besides Michael Jordan.

The autograph looks very similar to yours (even the same pen), but as i mentioned before this was a Thru the Mail Auto.

I do have another auto somewhere that I got in with Kidd in person and it looks the same, so I do believe it is authentic.

I'll check to see if I have a Juwan Howard or Jalen Rose auto on the same card. I collected them hard in Michigan uniform. If Kidd had it then Howard and Rose did as well.

Roughly a hour away from the Blue Chip but because I can't remember the name of the Outlet Mall I had to use the casino. Many a Irish fans from that location. I go to Indiana quite often.

After checking my Michigan players. There is a Juwan Howard Classic RC Silver sharpie Autograph. It's not a PTP but same looking silver sharpie.

I believe it probably had the authenticity paper taken out of the back of the card.

Yeah I don't know what I'll do with this card. I don't really want it to sit here for another 25 years lol. I might just list it and explain how I came to get it in the description.
