I don’t accept returns and just lost a $1k return over a scuffed box and mag.

I reported the buyer for a fraudulent return before they even escalated the case.

eBay is just a cesspool. I’m out fees and I pay his shipping back to me all over buyer remorse.

I can think of about 32 better ways than EBay to sell stuff. Hell, even FB marketplace is better.

When I decide to sell, I’m selling on Stockx

I know I’ve said this already, but I’ll say it again in light of the few posts above.

You mean before the Mark McGwire card, ESPN article, Beckett article, and Beckett cover? It was before the memorial day bump. Seemed (and still does) pretty on point IMO?

I did not accept returns and the buyer had already left positive feedback. Ebay told me there was nothing I can do and I still had to accept the refund regardless. There is no chance if they mark the return as "Item not as described". His reasoning was because of a small scuff on the 2020 box as well I might add.

Not sure who if it was Blake, Baller or someone else who brought the Gary Vee hype/presser/guest spot on a podcast into play, but the hype was through the roof.

Did that ever happen?

Definitely a Chang Clemente (or TWO!). Maybe, possibly a Baller Cal.

Last two days of cards were not bad (except for Ermsy, that looks terrible), but didn't buy.

Pretty irresponsible of him to be buying cards what with "covid 19" and all.

I wonder if it would hurt Baller’s ego to know that card is going to resell for less than a box of cat litter in a week’s time.

Not sure if this has been addressed yet, but two of Chang’s cards have a really interesting and downright dastardly easter egg to decode (at least for me).

1. On her Ichiro card, what does .625 refer to at the top?

-I scoured his stats. Like a deep-dive-on-Fangraphs scour. Nothing.

Ignoring the decimal point:

-His 2001 Topps card number was 726. 627 in reverse is close, but c’mon now.

-He never had 625 AB in a season, but did notch 629 in 2012. Not sure what to do with that info, so moving right along.

-Seattle’s area code is 206. No US area code is 625, but Pasadena, CA is 626 (who knew?).

-His 117 career HR is tied for 750th all-time (with Ty Cobb and Tris Speaker no less!)

-His birthday is Oct 22nd, not June 25 (6-25)

I am totally flummoxed and must know the answer!!! Anyone?

2. On the Clemente, the .330 circled in red seems easy enough...batting average at some point, right? Roberto was a decent hitter from what I understand (kidding, he was utterly brilliant), but “only” mustered a .317 lifetime average. He also never hit .330 on the button in any season with the Bucs.

-However, he did have an OBP of .330 in 1956, but that can’t be what Chang was referring to, can it?? Not the most glamorous stat and in the year after the card was designed? Uhh, no.

-Like Ichiro, I scoured his stats. No other instance of .330 that I see during his big league career...although he did bat .330 in the 1959-60 winter league in Puerto Rico. Doubtful that’s what Chang had in mind, either. If it is, well played Sophia. Well played.

-His 1955 Topps card number was 164, but if you double it, it comes super close (328). Close, but no cigar (and we won’t discuss that pesky decimal point).

-No luck with dates, but maybe he was born at 3:30am on a red eye flight (hence the red “eye” around the number)? Hey, anything is possible at this point.

I sincerely hope I am missing something embarrassingly obvious, but this really has a hold on me. haha /sob

I‘m an instant fan of Chang’s work because of this clever feature. She did say on Blake’s interview that she really researched the players before designing her card because she isn’t really a big baseball fan and needed to know more about each subject. So awesome. Wish her other 4 had this (Mo, Jackie, Gibson, Mays), but here’s hoping more mystery numbers make an appearance on her remaining cards.

Anyway, I love following all the highs/lows/more lows and soaking in the unbridled emotion toward the set thus far! No matter how P2020 shakes out, it’s a ride we won’t soon forget.

Plan to focus on a Taylor/Thiele/Koufax run, but no rush at this point.

Probably too many words for a first post. Sorry but not terribly!

You've probably been working a lot, but that timeline is not on point bro.

May 25th was the livestream he was referencing.

So, if we're going to try and decode what Chang is saying, it's important that we understand Chang. There are two important issues at play with Chang.

1.) She does not follow baseball.

2.) A lot of the information she gets, she gets via research.

So, we know she's not going to type "Ichiro .625" into google search.

I did, and I found a quote. Now, would Chang type in "Ichiro quotes" into google search? I bet you she would.

Here's what I found...

"I didn't know I hit that way (.625 with runners in scoring position). Maybe not knowing is my secret. If I chased numbers, maybe I wouldn't have as good results." Source: Seattle Times (May 16, 2001)

That's a quote from his rookie year. I bet you that's it.

I’m a big Chang fan! One of the first and still one of the only on this thread. Like you, I love the little doodles and Easter eggs. Here’s what my take is:

There is no stat for Ichiro that is .625 for any single season or season. Really there isn’t. I even tried combining two stats to make a .625. It’s a mystery to me but someone on here who’s smart might know!!!

I asked Sophia via insta but haven’t heard back fwiw
