Default 1986 Fleer Jordan Authentication Help

Hi All,

I recently purchased the 86 Fleer Jordan.

I was wondering if you all could take a look at it and give your opinion about its authenticity?

And your reasoning?

It has all the tell-tale signs of an authentic card (at least to my eye) except for the fact I didn't pull it from the pack myself.

Get a closer picture of the arrow next to 'Premier' on the front. It's hard to tell from your picture, but a real one should be darker orange and have black dots in it.

Thank you!

Yes, admittedly, it's not in hand YET (I just paid a pretty penny for it, but the seller was guaranteeing authenticity and unaltered, said that if I was unhappy, he'd over full refund as per eBay policy).

So we shall see.

Did you pay for it yet? I have a feeling this is going to be a nightmare.

I did, eBay, buyer protection, I'm good.

The seller seems like a legitimate guy, so I thought I'd take a chance, and we both acknowledged that eBay allows for returns, he seemed cool with it.

At best, I've got a badass card. At worst, I'll get my money back. I'm OK with this risk.

Also, I've JUST purchased a Terry Teagle from the set for $2. I'll use it to compare.

How are the black and yellow supposed to look? I found this guide, and will measure it up against it:

I did ask him for a flag photo before purchasing. I thought it was promising (especially because the triangle is a little darker in color, and a dot matrix printer was used to print the card, clearly).

He claims his dad pulled it from a pack years ago and it has lived in a top loader for its entire life. He says he and his dad were huge Jordan fans (if you look at his store, he has about 20 other Jordan's for sale, so I thought the narrative made some sense).

It could be your pic. Looks broken and image is off. Good luck tho.

We'll see. I wouldn't be too certain about it being way too dark without seeing it in person first. Take this PSA authenticated Jordan, for example.

I'll be sure to report back what I think about the Jordan when I receive it, but given that USPS is very slow right now, that may be in 2 weeks.

You seem to be convinced it's real despite several people telling you it looks fake. Why start a tread if your mind is already made up. Anyway it looks fake to me but I would need to see better pics to tell for sure. Just the fact that it was sold raw on ebay in a toploader is not very promising.

Convinced? Interesting that you think that.

I dont think its fake, but will get a better, in-person look.

If I were convinced, I wouldn't post on this forum, and I wouldn't buy a base card from the set to compare it to.

It looks good to me. The pictures are horrible. Need pics of the card without any sleeve/toploader.

In hand you should be able to determine authenticity 100%.

The least the seller could do is take the card out of the sleeve and toploader for pictures.

you bought a RAW jordan rookie from a seller on ebay with an 11 for FB and none as a seller who has already "sold" this very same card just about 4 weeks ago?

It didn't sell first time around.

I asked him about that, too.

He did a good job answering my questions, but no way to tell until I have it in hand.

Any ways, he sold it as 'original,' and with Buyer Protection, you have 180 days to file a dispute, if necessary.

This is a measured risk.

Considering he's selling other Jordan reprints as original I would say you have nothing to worry about.
