I kinda like this tweet from Trump about the people who tried to yank down a Andrew Jackson statue in DC..
President Donald Trump tweeted late Monday that “Numerous people” had been arrested for “the disgraceful vandalism.” He added: “10 years in prison under the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act. Beware!”

Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Left is always right.

Unfortunately, I have yet to hear a single voice in our situation mention the fact that the Confederacy and secession were largely filibustering projects enacted by the southern elites and could hardly be said to have represented the will of the average southerner.
Southerners, including Georgians, were not united in their support for secession. Although, according to historian Michael P. Johnson, more than half the popular vote for delegates to the Georgia Secession Convention of 1861 went to candidates who initially opposed secession, enough delegates shifted their votes to give secessionists a 166 to 130 majority in the first vote at the convention. The remaining antisecession delegates urged that the secession ordinance be put to the people for a vote. Fearing the outcome of such a move, secessionist delegates refused. Georgia, like the other seceding states, left the Union without submitting the issue to a direct popular vote.
Prior to the approach of the Union army, a good chunk of the southern population remained loyal to the US. It was only after shots were fired that loyalties shifted to the defense of home states.

It would nice if people could sit down and have honest, historically-accurate discussion of the Civil War, but I haven't seen that. And that's why I'm keeping an eye on how far this current cultural purge is going to let itself go.
If you anticipate it not going much farther, I would re think your anticipations.
What is happening is a complete uprising against any Euro-centric history in the US. It’s a fight and one side is now seeking to erase the other. It’s not about righting wrongs or correcting history. It’s not about listening or wanting to be heard. It’s about conquering the enemy.

From what I was reading, decreased oil prices is the reason why it's currency is being devalued. Oil prices have been tanking for years and for a country who is so dependent on exporting oil, low oil prices devalues the Canadian dollar.
Our discussion centered on the manufacturing sector which is what I was referencing.

Regarding the resource sector, historically and currently we are not heavily dependent on oil exports (re: tar sands extraction costs) and manufacturing is important for blue collar workers.

History suggests that this too shall pass and will not go on unabated. There will be a news event like a second wave, recession, etc. White people will become tired with the movement, law and order candidates will win office via Bradley effect, people will vote with their pocketbook and move to places that appreciate police, those places will receive investments while the places they leave will not. And on and on. In other words a few statues come down and a few buildings will be tenamed and then it all backfires.

I would think he means the 10 years part. But it seems no one in authority cares about things being taken down. Has anyone been arrested yet? Maybe someone but it just seems like no one cares to do anything about it.

I disagree very much. The tone and virility this time is much different. Consider the fact that First Nations people have also taken up this fight.

This is the second wave of the 60s/70s protests by both groups. Now they understand they have a common enemy. Again while the words say one thing, the actions are about conquering an enemy.

I get what you are saying, but will have to say until they quit trying to literally change anything and everything that supposedly has something to do with racial inequality the message isn't going to be well received by a lot of people. They want to erase history and statues, change names of cities, etc. and that is not fighting the "enemy" that is only making things worse in a way. I will ask again also is there changes that are going to be done on the other side:

Is rap music going away?
Are they going to quit using the black power salute in their protests?
Are statues gping to be taken down they may offend the other side?

An interesting argument for why places like Fort Bragg will get renamed while elite institutions like Yale will not.

The pics, memes, nonsense, etc. is posted to poke innocent fun at you. If you want to have a thoughtful discussion, let me know. As far as I can recall, you have never had a thoughtful post, in any thread, on these boards. You remind me of the little kid with a big mouth getting the older, larger kid to try to fight like in Christmas Story.

Peace, Dude. Peace.

Interesting strategy in this thread. I wonder how long until you're banned from here just like you were in 2016.

Was the Bubba Wallace noose thing debunked in here yet? This is why these hit and run comments and accusations that seem far fetched are met with so much scrutiny. 90% of them don’t hold up over time, but by then the public has moved on.

I disagree that this is someone more intense than the civil rights movement of the 60s, long hot summer, AIM activism of the 70s, etc. Regardless, the movement isn’t going to be very successful long term and may even cause more harm. The numbers aren’t on their side.
