Honestly I am not old enough to fully understand MLK, plus I am Canadian.

Has anyone here read anything from Thomas Sowell? He seems like a voice worth listening to.

He's on my radar. Trying to get through a bunch of other things first. The ideas of his that I've heard repeated make a lot of sense to me.

I'm doing the audiobook of "Intellectuals and Society" right now. It's remarkable.

Going to listen through it a second time, then move on to "Discrimination and Disparities".

Because "science" has even become political. I don't think it's a coincidence that Fauci came out with his 100,000 new daily cases fear mongering today while at the same time Biden crawls out of his basement to do a press conference about how he would handle the virus.

It is not fear mongering - it is what happens with a communicable disease such as Covid.........

If knowing what is really happening vs putting our heads in the sand ....... I can just shake my head.

Fact: Cases reported TODAY were contracted 10-14 days ago.......

Fact: Asymptomatic people can transmit this virus (I have been posting this for what - months?)

The cases we are seeing now are just the tip of the iceberg - just as they were in march/april........ Our deaths are down based on 3-4 months of handling cases and the ability to provide care for individuals with covid.

It is not political - it is science and this is real. Not everyone with the virus will show symptoms and not everyone with symptoms will die - we can agree on that.

Most basically, the pandemic hit in the middle of a seemingly resurgent, strong economy and chopped the legs out from under it. The timing is never good for a pandemic to hit the globe, but in the midst of a presidential race in a deeply polarized country...science becomes polarized as well.

People bag on the constantly shifting science, but that what science does...it evolves. Projections evolve and they continue to evolve.

The president has stood his ground, and we saw/heard a lot of mixed messaging from Trump and his experts.

I can't help but think that the administration wishes they could go be to the beginning and shift the messaging, because the corner they've painted themselves into is a tight space.

Fauci is being "vilified" because he was very wishy washy in the beginning about this whole situation. He know wants to act like he did nothing wrong and when in the beginning he was down playing the virus also that just doesn't set well with people regardless of politics.

So I see you posted a general question for people to respond and then when someone gives an opinion that doesn't line up with yours then you have to tell them how they're wrong??? Why ask then ?

When the shutdown was in full force here in Ohio, we shut the entire state down for the number of cases that weren't even equivalent to the population of some very small towns in my area. This is why I say the virus is obviously real, but I do believe the reaction to the virus has become driven by fear and maybe even politics.

Example that doesn't make sense:

I can do to the Walmart Super Store with almost 1100 people at any one time and I'm not required to wear a mask, but a restaurant has to spread their tables six feet apart and all the workers have to wear masks, etc.

and I could go on.

It is fear mongering when the media and politicians are treating it like the plague when it's convenient to do so. How is it science based and not political when you have politicians and health "experts" warning us how serious it is while at the same time marching shoulder to shoulder in crowds of thousands of people? The left is bashing Trump for lack of leadership while cheering on these governors (who are actually the ones in charge of the situation) when they are telling us to do something and then breaking their own rules. Why are new cases being reported seemingly hourly but we don't hear about death rates?

You can believe what you want but as I stated in an earlier post I'm done with it. I'll continue to do as I have since the beginning and live my life as normally as I possibly can.

This right here.

You have leftist people who are so proud of what Cuomo did in NY and stunned at what Florida is doing. That's political.

You want to go march in a crowd of 10,000 people but tell me I can't open my bar to serve 25 people? Yea, no thanks.
