Yeah it’s crazy - either they didn’t have much stock or there are a lot of people looking for these...

Can someone explain to me why knowledgeable people (If you are on this board - I am counting you) are buying this product? The only thing I can think is that they see value in the Luis Robert, but that card, like every other Series 1 & 2 card for the last 10 years, will be readily available at $5 over the next few months once factory sets come out. I am just baffled. (And this is coming from someone who has a lot of this on order being delivered this week from my pre-orders made many months ago)

From a value standpoint, I just don't get it. Series 1 is readily available and has 3 guys worth grading now and another 3-5 worth stashing to maybe grade later. Are there legit sleeper guys in series 2 (or anyone worth grading beyond Robert)?

Looking for Andre Dawson Serial numbered cards that are his jersey number - either #8 or #10. So looking for cards like 8/8 or 08/99 or 10/250.

I didn't buy any but I would have. I haven't seen any baseball cards at MSRP in about 2.5 months. I wouldn't buy a ton to sit on or hold but I sure would like to open some baseball cards.

Oh I dont know, maybe because I collect baseball cards and like to open packs. I imagine there are thousands of others like me. For some of us its not always about the monetary aspect. Topps flagship is collected and opened by many.

Good point, but I also have to agree somewhat with the guy questioning the value proposition with this release.

Robert will be available for some time, probably cheaper than it is right now. If you want to rip, why not rip something that has some potential value at least?

Series 1 for example....

It is surprising that this is flying off the virtual shelves the way it is. My Target has had them sitting there for over a week now, pretty much begging to be bought.

I bought some because my metro Targets don't stock any trading cards for the most part (except for the random pokemon/hockey). I have to rely on the online stocks to rip anything at retail And it's frustrating when I feel like I'm fighting bots to get something that shouldn't be moving off the shelves that quickly like you said.

This is more my point. If I was itching for something to open and Series 1 and 2 were on the shelf, there is no chance I'm picking series 2. If you want to sit on your flagship high-horse as a collector - good for you - there are more collectible rookies and stars in series 1. And series 1 is available everywhere.

This feels like 2018 Series 1 again. Available everywhere for MSRP for 2 years and has a really strong rookie class of collectible players.

Has anyone crunched the numbers on production run yet? Either Series 2 is very underproduced compared to previous years or there is a lot of this waiting to be put on shelves.

I’m buying because I build the Series 1, 2 and Update sets every year. This is my first retail purchase of Series 2. I only bought one hobby box for $80 and didn’t come close to completing the set. That box as a whole was just brutal, so I’m steering clear of hobby Series 2 and moving to retail to complete the set. Once that is done, I’ll be done buying Series 2.

I understand there is little value in ripping Series 2 this year, but I just find it so much more fun/rewarding to complete the sets myself.

I think a lot of it is just how popular cards are right now. And a lot of this includes the botbois, flippers, etc. that are snatching everything up right away to re-sell and try to make a few bucks. At least with S2, there is a chance to hit the Robert parallels (not all just about his base). And he does seem to have a ton of hype. Obviously this is pretty much a boom-or-bust type of release as it seems like so much of the value will depend on if he lives up to the hype.

On a related note, I finally got a Wally pre-order in for 12 hangers! Woohoo!

What do you mean by available everywhere? Sure, you can pick up the Jumbo/Hobby online but $200 for the Jumbo? $100 for the hobby? It doesn't seem like series 1 is available at SRP anywhere today.

I have not seen a Target or WM without Series 1. It is plentiful and full of RCs.

Hangers? Blasters? Fat packs? I haven’t seen a hanger or blaster in months. I saw a few 2 single packs with a 2019 heritage . Nothing else

Pretty crazy as it's fairly limited around me. Find some but not much any more.

I still see quite a bit of Series 1 here in NW Florida, although it is dwindling somewhat.

I've seen very little Series 1, but I have bought Series 2 because it's just fun to rip wax.

Why do some people on this forum get their panties in such a bunch based on what others are buying?

Arkansas. Just went to one of the WMs and there were 9 hangers, several fat packs and two tins. This is a store that does not get stocked on a regular basis.

I'm jealous, wish I could get anything around me. Downside of living in a city

If I had a choice of serie 1 or series 2 at walmart or target, I'd go with series 1. There is no series 1 in my area and everyone is buying all the series 2 (I have no idea why).
