Relative to Prizm, Select Courtside (~100) and Optic (~2000) both seem underpriced given the POP reports. Maybe Revolution (~300), too.

Most people consider Optic #2 in general demand after Prizm. It's 50% of Prizm, but has 1/6 the amount of PSA 10s available.

What is considered a "true" rookie to most collectors? For example, I really like the Panini Draft Picks Silver Prizms this year - but my brother in law who has actively been collecting for years (and active on the forum) told me the hobby doesn't consider it an actual rookie card since it's college jersey. I went ahead and got some Zion's and Ja's because I think the card just looks good period.

When it comes to Luka, I really like the look of the 2018-19 Chronicles Luminance card. Is that also not considered a rookie? It seems the price is very low compared to other Luka rookies if it is considered a true rookie. I can't comprehend how that rookie is going for $250ish (PSA 10) when the standard Prizm rookie is going for over $1k? Is Chronicles just that undesirable?

That Zion Prizm Draft Picks card #1 is probably the best "in game" photo we've got of him on a card - I think that one probably gains some traction at some point.

I think the idea of "true" rookie card is when the player is wearing his NBA jersey on the card and that card has the Panini RC rookie shield logo. Luminance would be considered a true rookie based on that definition, though, some might argue that since it's a set within the larger product of Chronicles it's not really a "true" rookie which is most likely why most of the Chronicles paper rookie cards aren't as valuable as other products.

Chronicles seems very much here to stay since it's gotten full Football, Baseball, and Draft Picks Football releases this year - so I think all the Chronicles cards (including Luminance) will probably catch up to some of the other true base rookies.

Same. I picked up a National Convention Esche squares/25 Luka a few months ago. Really gorgeous card.

If there’s a card to buck the Prizm trend by any amount at all, it’s Luka’s Optic. So much more attractive, lower pop of high grades. Not saying it will definitely happen or that Optic will overtake Prizm, but hypothetically if Luka’s Optic sales narrow the gap on his Prizm, it’s likely to trigger a trend up in Optic across the board.

Prizm is always going to be the barometer by which every other base card is measured. May not be the most expensive however. From that list, I'd say Mosaic, Select Concourse and Premier, Revolution, Status, Phoenix, and Elite are undervalued.

When I got the red back from PSA I was bummed (it looks clean to me and was centered on the Grademaster), but glad I held onto it as I usually sell off 9s to pay for other stuff

PSA pop isn't working for me right now, but whats difference in PSA 10s between the Prizm Silver and the Optic Holo? Its a pretty wide gap isnt it?

*I own a Holo 10. I don't own a Silver 10.

Well if that’s the case than I take it back on low pop, I was under the impression it was much lower. That’s what happens when you get lazy and don’t do your research haha. I sold most of my Luka stuff far too early so I don’t have much skin in the game, but I am curious to see how Optic popularity as a product line grows over time.

Optic PSA 10 considerably more scarce than Prizm PSA 10 but still quite attainable. Seems like the perfect mix.

You lost me there. So much more attractive? Not the greatest photo of Doncic with half his legs missing and you must love the giant rated rookie emblem. I think the Prizm photo of Doncic shooting is iconic and will always be the card to own and hoard.

Sold mine a month or two ago for $600 and was pleased at the time. Regrettable decision now.

I think there are definitely arguments to be made on both sides of the Luka Prizm vs Luka Optic debate. Prizm = better photo, Panini legacy. Optic = better border, old school legacy with the Rated Rookie logo. To me, both are studio photos so that cancels out the "better photo" of Prizm. Rated Rookies existed when I collected as a kid so that puts Optic over Prizm for me. The border is a nice call-back to old school collecting too.

Personal preference brother. I think the Prizm shot makes Luka look distant and I do like the Rated Rookie emblem. Not trying to attack anyone’s hoard of Prizm. Prizm is very safe I assure you I like cards that look less metallic and look more like TC. Optic checks those boxes for me. I don’t think I’m alone in finding Lukas Optic stuff attractive, but if I am so be it

I agree. I also like Optic better. I'm way more invested in Prizm but really like the optic more. I want to add an Optic auto but these prices...

I also am a fan of scarcity. I get that Prizm has a history and the heart of collectors, but I really like the idea of having a more rare/limited item.

2000 PSA 10s is a low pop relative to the demand for Luka cards.
