I just don't understand how owners and players can't grasp the fact that the entire sports world is starving for any sport to start and baseball has the perfect opportunity to take the full global spotlight. The opportunity cost they are burning is far more $$ than what they are fighting over. I just don't get it.

WE NEED BASEBALL!

I was just typing up a post when I saw SMTG posted

The lack of season so far this year has sucked, but I think this league will be relatively unaffected. Free league so we can still play out a short fantasy season if there does end up being a ~50 game season. We would discuss format when we know more of the details about the season. We already keep almost all of our players each year anyways so I don't think we have to change number of keepers allowed for next year, but we could do a 1-time "you can keep everybody if you want" type thing if that's what people prefer. Big bummer with how things have gone, but I think this league won't be affected by it that much. We'll just have to wait and see what happens

That’d be funny if you’re like “Happy Opening Day! Just a reminder, trade deadline is tomorrow!”

If the 60 game season does happen as planned, I would suggest that instead of our normal head to head with playoffs, we change formats for this year and have each team matched up against all other teams each week, receiving a win for all teams you finish with more points than in the week, and a loss for each team you finish with less points in the week. I'd say no head to head playoffs this year either, winner determined by best record at the end of these 9 weeks of roto-esque matchups

I would suggest we don't change our keeper settings at all. I think the format of our league allows us to continue on more or less as usual

Yeah we have no penalties (rounds or picks) attached to keepers so no need to change that.

I'm ok with whatever scoring the majority rolls with.

so do we have anything in place because of the amount of prospects added to the 60-man player pools for this mini season? are ABs/IPs still going to be in effect like normal?

Also it would be nice if ESPN would lift the ban on player add/drops

I was thinking things would be fine to be as normal in that sense. It's tough to do much around that as if their playing time in the MLB changes due to circumstances this year, one way or the other, it still counts towards their career total and we can't really change that next year

I can allow adds/drops at any time, but I'm going to wait until about a week before the season starts. I'll send out PMs when we get closer to that so everyone is aware

Getting the rest of my leagues organized this week, wanted touch base here too. I think the only change we'll make is instead of pure head to head scoring, we'll do everyone plays everyone each week. So each team will get 11 total wins/losses/ties each week. It's fairer since we could barely have each team play each other in the traditional format. Final standings bases on W/L record, tiebreaker is most total season points. Everything else should be ok, I think. Some teams will be impacted more than others by opt outs, positive tests, etc but in a free league I don't think there's a need to make things too complicated. If we want, we could add an extra bench slot or two to make it easier for teams with those guys to hold them all year and still compete, but up to you guys, I'm good either way there

I realize this league has been on my back burner, much more going on in my other leagues than this one. But let's get this thing started. Three quick things-

First, I don't have a way of setting all players on waivers, so to keep it as fair, I am going to open the player pool around 7pm central tomorrow night. I will post here 15 min before I do so, and then again 1 minute before I do so. At that point, all players in the FA pool will become available to add. Please remember to check prospect rosters before adding any players

Second, I am going to bump our max acquisitions per week up from 2 to 4 since this year will likely be pretty active considering the circumstances. Just FYI. Remember that any adds this week will count towards your allotted 4 for the first matchup

Lastly, we are going the everyone plays everyone route this year, so each team will receive 11 total wins/losses/ties each week. We'll do no playoffs this year, winner will be whoever has the best win/loss record at the end of the season. Tiebreaker is total points scored over the full year. ESPN does not accommodate this. You will still set your lineups as usual each day, but at the end of the week I will record everyone's point total in this spreadsheet and calculate the running W/L record for each team. ESPN will have it's own W/L record which can be ignored this year. I don't have anything in the spreadsheet yet but will get it set up and formatted soon

I'll PM everyone this info for visibility

I thought in the total standings section they do tally the total points scored by each team. At least they have in the past.

They do and that part will be fine, but ESPN is still going to have each team matched up against just 1 other team each week and only getting 1 win/loss/tie per week. That's the part I'll keep track of

Aside, ESPN won't handle our head to head vs. everyone format, so I will have to keep track of wins/losses for each team in the OP. Just FYI. Adding a section at the top of the OP now. Each week I'll post everyone's point totals and count up the wins and losses for each group

Gary Sanchez is on the block if someone needs a catcher. A SP or 1B in return would be ideal

Can’t believe I’m beating Jacfire so far. Maybe my team isn’t that bad after all!

Well, I guess if the baseball season ends tomorrow, I'll be the undefeated 2020 champion.

I know it's only been a week, but I'm 2nd in the league! Very pleased with where I'm at, and that's all been without Juan Soto and with Snell essentially being an opener
