Default Leody Taveras

By most people still considered the Texas Rangers #1 prospect, Leody Taveras was given the oppertunity to show his skills in the majors. He was added to the opening day roster after stellar play in both spring training and summer camp.

We all know what he can do defensively, that he is mighty fast and has an above average hitting tool. I’m very curious if he will manage to knock down a starting position either at center or right field or will remain an asset off the bench.

What do you guys think?

I hit a bin on a base today for 25 to take a shot he blows up like Beltran did at his age, that's his pro comparable.

I don't think he will ever garner much hobby interest if he can't start hitting home runs.

I have been holding an Orange and Gold auto for the past 3 years
I also have several others - hoping people are right about him!

It's going to be tough for him to get chances in the role they have him designated for - one that will be of a defense/pinch-runner type. Calhoun is now back and Solak needs a place to play first.

Yeah, he really can't hit much. However does anyone really think Danny Santana can even come close to replicating what he did last season? If Santana reverts back to his 2015-2018 self (highly likely IMO) then Leody could get a bunch of playing time. However I doubt he'll do much more than .250/.300/.300 .....

Sure, offensively there is room for improvement but defensively he has been considered one of the top prospects in the minors for years so your statement isn’t very inaccurate. We should give every young player the benefit of the doubt, who knows what he could accomplish given the right environment and experience.

his defense and speed has always been there but everyone is still waiting on the power to show up.

reports always talked about how young he was for in each league and how they are hopeful the power will show up later.

Only 21, and he did hit two homeruns in summer camp, hopefully that’s a good sign for the near future .
