Second year cards. How do you guys feel about them?

Go back and look at Mantle, Jackie, Aaron, etc. and their cards command high prices through every year, not just the second. High grade base cards for Lebron (and many other superstar HOFs) are pretty rare and I don’t know how many gem mint copies are sitting in collections, especially pre 2010 when QC worse.

But back in the day you only had like 1-2 cards (regular, All-Star card) in the one available set. Nowadays, you have many, many sets and in those many sets, you have many inserts, parallels and autographed cards.

Though I suppose with the variety of cards we have now, there is greater chance for desirable cards to be released for veteran players, even well after the rookie year.
