Stuart Putnam - he's on the FB page. He makes them for $200.

Hey Don. Yes definitely. I plan on opening up some art commission spots for early 2021. First opening them to the Patreon VIPs (gotta give them first dibs as it is part of the membership) and then the rest of the supporters.

My Patreon will most likely turn into a general art support page after P2020 is over. Unless I keep making baseball cards, then I'll probably keep it more focused on that.

I can add you to the waiting list for commissions if you'd like.

Got an email from Topps support for an issue that I emailed about on...let's see...May 19th.

The kicker is that the response was basically "if you still have this issue, then please email or call us at the usual number/email address."

What's the point of giving that as a reply? "Sorry this is really late, but contact us again with the same problem to get put in the back of the queue."

Otherwise, trying to make money now would cost them the same amount of time as later, but they'll be getting paid less for their work now as apposed to later.

That is what I've been trying to say. If they plan on doing companions anyway, the time spent will be almost the same, but the amount of money they'll make going forward will likely depend on timing, and right now doesn't appear to be the best timing.

Waiting until the end of December or later will likely make them more money, and create continued interest in prior offerings, while costing them almost no extra time if they spend that time now.

I don't know...running businesses has always been pretty easy for me, but I'm as far away from being an artist as one can get. All my kids, even my youngest at 6 years old can draw better than I can.
Well, I think the difference in the business here is that they're literally the value, and they have to be comfortable assigning their value to each work appropriately. That is much more difficult from both sides in the art world versus most anything else. My hypothesis suggests that their next project, and the value they assign to it, will be far more than anything related to P2020 to make it worth while for them to be spending any more effort on that side. That's our difference, despite our agreement. I also work with the assumption that art takes much more of yourself dedicated to it than stocking the shelves or manufacturing a project. Distraction can be much more limiting in the art world, and I think that's my key assumptions that's causes our difference of opinion.

I'm hopefully on there, I had talked to you about the family skate art previously via email. If not, let me know if you need a refresher. I'm still on the regular patreon for that very reason (of following your non P2020 art).

Suffice to say, however, that if print runs drop much lower this week, I may be in for every single card starting next week.
That's how I was reading you Ed!

Don C and Beck are among the usual lower print runs in the set, so even Yankees aren't likely to move the needle as much, especially since we're seeing a bit of a lull on PRs right now. I'm hoping the cards end in this range or higher. Nice play by Tyson to hype the Jeter a little by releasing an early PR.
Don C is tricky, but i think his PRs are influenced more by the player than Jeter's PRs are influenced by the artist. Mo and Mattingly are not as "influential" as Jeter, but like Trout and Griffey, Jeter will always have above avg PRs, regardless of the artist. Just like how, regardless of player, Baller, Ermsy, Blake (and to some extent, Saladeen and Cartoon) will always have above avg PRs. Based on the recent avg PR, 6-7k seems right where it should be.

I like to think that the recent PRs are a sign that we're returning to some sort of normalcy after the craze, rather than a "lull". Now that the flippers are (mostly) out, PRs are more indicative of the # of actual collectors and we won't be seeing as many of these cards on the secondary market.

Between fatigue and the pandemic, I'm sure $$ is tight for a lot of ppl that would otherwise be buying these cards right now. I still believe the artists and set will only gain popularity with time.

I don't think this can be stated enough. Buyer fatigue and slow shipping are really the worst aspects of the set.

So who's got Trout next week? Siff or Vides are my bets. Maybe Efdot. Outside chance of Oldmanalan, Saladeen, or Taylor. I'm also looking forward to Thiele, Blake, and Efdot. Thiele could be Brett, Thomas, Robinson, Ripken, or Ichiro - I'd really like to see his Jackie. Blake could be Brett or Thomas, maybe Ripken. I'm guessing Efdot is Mattingly or Thomas. Could be Henderson, Trout, or Ichiro as well.

At some point people will develop some sense of pride and simply refuse to sell cards for a loss.

Right now you have an abundance of people that bought peak bubble cards with the mindset that they could make a quick buck. Now that they are coming in hand they are selling for pennies on the dollar and will tell anyone who will listen how awful P2020 is. Folks need to stop confusing pockets of the P2020 market as the general consensus.

Touche, though it's missing the je ne sais quoi this thread offers in terms of escrowed wagers.

Lost in all the talk about companion cards (I like the ideal image of new companion cards sustaining interest in the set over the years to come, even if I don't share this vision) and PRs (I wound up passing on the Clemente, even though I like it! I'm the problem!), is thenightman dropping trou to today's Sandy.

Glad that someone pants-downed it. I thought it was boring the first time I saw it, but I like it more now. Glad that she mixed things up by removing the unnecessary borders. It reminds me of an ice cream cone with sprinkles.

Yup, just checked and you're on there! Thanks for sticking in there. I'll be posting more non-project 2020 art as time goes on for sure.

Sweet. I'm definitely in on that. Love the way artists so far are showing Seattle in the card, and I can't wait to see what you put into it.

Still enjoy the P2020 content from a process perspective (if not more), just feeling the grips of fatigue when combined with delays. I wouldn't be on there if I didn't enjoy it
