I think you have it backwards. Who is returning a $32 Morant flux silver? Quite a few sellers not knowing what on earth it is they're actually selling on eBay right about now

Right. I'm not finding those! I don't think I'd be so kind as to tell them their mistake there. But the base cards labeled as bronze and greens? Or the teals labeled as greens and vice versa - I contact.

Forgot Phoenix too. I'd prob put Phoenix somewhere in the top 3 or so, right? IMO I'd put it before Hometown Heroes

Personally I like the prizm update cards, phoenix and luminance. Don't care for too much else

Super dope card. I pc Cam Reddish and was able to scoop the Crusade /10 gold for $270. Felt like I overpaid at the time but compared to the Ja, I feel a little better lol

I picked up the Crusade purple today too, 22/49. My first numbered jersey number Cam.

Actually have scooped a ton of numbered Chronicles, its definitely a buyers market right now.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but how can you tell the difference between the silver and base versions? Looking at recent sales of both they look pretty much identical.

Welp looking at em more think I can answer my own question. They look very similar but the silver versions ‘silver’ part is reflective while the base is just a plain silver.

So this is a strange and vague question, but where do you think the chronicles product settles in collectors’ minds? I’m asking because it seems like it has become a super popular release with a strong “hot” retail chase component, and seems to get more attention on this board than anything not named prizm. It easily seems to dominate the attention of the product release calendar between mosaic and (maybe through) immaculate/flawless?

I wonder if it has a chance to become a one of the real flagship products of the year in basketball, if it hasn’t already (based on the frequency and passion of the posts, and the high activity of this thread on this message board compared to other threads).

I personally find it to be an incredibly fun rip, and the likelihood of positive outcomes when opening stuff compares pretty favorably to boxes of almost anything else, from low-end to high-end, in large part due to the strong checklist. Perhaps the issue is a lack of a clear must-have card...? Instead, the product seems to have a lot of desirable A- or B++ cards?

I wish this years edition had on-card autographs like in 2018, but the vet checklist and the addition of prizm update partially mitigates that.

No chance. It won't even take over Mosaic.

Prizm > Optic > Mosaic > Chronicles

I agree with that, but it's a very comfortable fourth. It sure as hell ain't looking over its shoulder.

Agreed. Look no further than last years Chronicles as a recent example. It has carved out a significant / unique niche in the market that carries a lot of weight.

Take it from the guy who started this thread because it's his favorite product and I can't find any to rip (unless I wanna get taken to the cleaners)..

This product is awesome. It'll never be prizm or optic but in think this thread is proof it's become a staple in the basketball hobby. 2018-19 started it with it having retail formats. They've fine tuned it this year and it's insane. I think it could definitely overtake mosaic. But what do I know?

I remember when nobody wanted to touch this stuff in 2017-18 and I was ripping hobby boxes cheaper than current blaster prices.. Lol. I'm happy it's finally getting its due as a product. But sucks I have not been able to enjoy it!

Well, most of the "subsets" in Chronicles used to be or will be stand-alone sets. So part of the fun in opening Chronicles is you get a variety of designs and a crap ton of rookie cards from known "brands". There's even a chance that a new subset can eventually turn into a flagship, stand-alone set.

So, I definitely think Panini will keep going Chronicles going to give the collectors what they want.

Long term, it will definitely be held in higher regard than Mosaic. Totally subjective but the only redeeming card with long term value from Mosaic is the stained glass insert.

Plus, Panini has cranked up the Chronicles brand by releasing it across Football, NCAA, Baseball, and Soccer. They didn't do any of that for Mosaic. I wouldn't even be so sure that they'll release Mosaic again next year.

Yeah it’s an interesting and appealing product; I really appreciate the viewpoints.

Some of the cards/brands in the set are definitely super nice and high end-ish, like gala and titanium and elite/black box. The chromes like Phoenix and Crusade and Flux are also pretty nice. The chronicles cards in general look great.

I do think maybe one overlooked aspect is that (in my opinion) the foil cards and also perhaps luminance have by far the best and most attractive action photos of any basketball cards out there, except for perhaps optic in some specific cases. Most other releases, even high-end ones, have posed or limited-movement ball-handling cutout photos. I love the in-game photos...

Panini is releasing Mosaic football this year.

Also, I think the Jam Masters and genesis will hold long term value.

It will be interesting today and tomorrow to see if more of this shows up at Target or if the people saying it will be limited are right

My LCS just got his retail in and wasn't able to get hobby. His retail order got cut 50%. I'm guessing so the distributor could hold back for higher prices. Initially he thought he would have enough to let everyone have multiple blasters, fat packs, and at least one fat pack box. He wound up only being able to give us one blaster and one sealed fat pack box. We could buy individual fat packs but there is a limit of 4. I did not see any additional blasters for sale but I think he did try to hold a little back for customers who didn't ask for it early and commit to it. I have not seen any indication that my Walmarts or Targets around here have ever had it but I'm guessing it's because people have taken the tray along with the product. One of my Targets have moved the product to customer service and put a 2 box limit on purchases. I have not taken the time to stand in line and check to see what they have. They don't have it displayed so you have no clue what, if any, they have. Crazy times.
