It gets a chuckle, but then it’s corny. It’s not playful to me, so it has no lasting power. Plus he really laid it on thick with his tweet (which may be why it got corny for me so fast). I like Anchorman, but this card does nothing for me, rich mahogany and all.

I think if a lot of other artist would have done it, then it could have been cheesy, but it’s fun to see Ben Baller do it. I was genuinely surprised.

It’s like a bad meme to me. Don’t see me getting anything else out of it, but I’ll force myself to look at it a few more times before the set is done.

To be fair, many people I know in SD absolutely despise the overplayed Anchorman references.

TBP in studio with Jamieson tonight.

I'm happy for him.

The Rickey is as bad as the Gibson to me. Too much minuscule text. I sound like an old man, but if my eyes have to either squint or avoid 50% of the card, it's not a good baseball card. He seems to forget how small baseball cards are.

I'd be okay with the green border and color blocking, if the rest of the card was more exciting. I sorta see what he's trying to get at with his impressionism. It swirls around kinda like the Thiele Rickey, but it looks under-cooked and fuzzy to me.

I hope I don't go so far anti-Siff that I start dumping on his Ryan card.

If the text was grey and the doodles were black I’d likely enjoy it more. As is, I’m happy with them getting lost in the haze of the card in general. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. I still like a bunch of his cards, he has a lot of dingers, he’s just starting to pile up strikeouts now too.

Wait what? 10:37 I am in, if I can stay up that late.

Hope Eric combed his beard!

Well you need the last name too, not just blake, but it should be easy to find. Also, am I the only one that really likes the Vides Trout? I kind of want to get a second one.

I think I’m grabbing it tonight. It’s a good card.

I waver on Grotesk partly because there's a shrinking of the original images on several of the cards. That said, this Jackie is sharp. I'm buying more of these cards than I originally intended, but will have to give this one a long look.
