Seriously?

The Democrats filled the Steele Dossier with Russian disinformation then criminally leaked it to the NYT so the propaganda could be spread far and wide.

You obviously haven’t read this thread and didn’t know what to expect.

Surprised you still have a PO and all the employees aren’t in Gitmo.

Is it just simply to remove bad people from society without any real concern for what happens to them?

Should the guilty be at the mercy of the aggrieved? That's certainly the quickest to wash the State's hands of the matter, but you're going to end up with so many horror stories.

I honestly don't have many fully-developed thoughts on what justice should look like. Every argument seems to have an equally strong counter argument.
One argument that I heard on Serial Season 3 (just finished... thanks, Jeremy) from some guy who makes decisions (DA, maybe?) is that he doesn’t see his job as rehabilitative for the offender. He views the crime through the lens of the relatives of the victims and believes the punishment, which is incarceration time, should be substantial enough that it provides the family a sense of justice in order to help them move on from the loss. He worded it way better than that, but I thought that made a lot of sense.

I don’t think there is a right answer. I do think that victimless crimes aren’t crimes, or at least aren’t imprisonable offenses. I also think the way charges are stacked such that an armed robbery becomes 12 different charges as a way of setting the bar so high that they knock off some of the charges to encourage a plea deal is BS. I also think that committing less crime is probably a good start.

I realize that some areas leave you with no choice but crime, but that requires a solution as well. I think more police and more community involvement by the police is a possible solution. High crime area residents don’t trust cops, and cops don’t trust residents in high crime areas. So build trust by bringing them together. Squeeze the criminal mentality out of the area one relationship at a time. It’s just a thought.

This cracked me up.

I actually received a letter today from the Center For Voter Information encouraging me to vote by mail-in ballot. I may go that route... to support USPS by giving them my business... $0.50 at a time.

Then charge me $5. I never asked for a deal. If it were $5 for a piece of mail I’d receive far less junk mail.

Still doesn't measure up to the sitting president spreading Russian propaganda to the masses in an effort to win re-election.

I get zero junk mail since opting in to the, um, opt out list.

Criminality is a behavior choice. The justice system should be punitive for such choices.

Justice system reform should focus on dismantling the prison industrial complex, removing barriers for people that make self reformation difficult and early intervention to keep people from making criminal decisions.

Mental health reform can open up better access to cognitive behavioral therapy to focus on behavior change, that is/should not be a burden put on taxpayong society.
