This is a massive fail by the govenor and the city leaders as they are sitting back just watching and doing nothing. If they can't get things under control with local police and the guard they need to ask for help. They need to get everyone both people rioting and people out there to stand against the riots. As we have seen people are starting to take to the streets to take the law into their own hands we don't want this. The leaders of the state and city need to get their crap together and get this fixed.
Well that won’t happen since the primary purpose of being an elected official is to get re-elected. If it means cities burn, then cities burn.

So if the NBA loses fans because it produces a product people don’t want to consume any more, it was a bad business choice. If the NBA giants fans, it’s a good choice. If there is no net change, there is no significant difference.

If a fan says this is not a product I want to consume anymore, it doesn’t need to be justified as to whether he/she is right or wrong.

To be fair, what the NBA and other leagues are doing isn’t a platform for discussion. Its a platform for promotion of one side. There is no discussion taking place not is it even encouraged. They’ve already chosen one side of it including any and all information or misinformation it entails.
Bingo.

“I wish something about this product that I pay to consume was different.”

“Stop consuming it then.”

Whut?

Two O‘ahu residents, one man and one woman, both over 80-years old, and both with underlying medical conditions are the 48th and 49th victims of COVID-19. The entire state expresses their sorrow and condolences to the family and friends of the latest people to pass from this disease. DOH reports 169 new cases of coronavirus today, with 149 of them in adults and 20 in minors (18-years-old or younger). Two of the cases are non-Hawai‘i residents, 10 are unknown and the remaining 157 are residents. The average number of new cases per day for the week of August 16-22, 2020 is 220.
Can you imagine? Almost 50 deaths from the virus in six months on all islands of Hawaii, and they're going into lock-down yet again.

Hawaii getting crushed by their own stupidity.

I thought this kind of stuff wasn't allowed on Twitter. I'm old enough to remember when King was able to badger someone enough to commit suicide ... seems like Twitter propping him up isn't all that great an idea.

Just winging it. "OnE dEaTh Is ToO MaNy!" Oh, well flu deaths is higher in Hawaii. "NoT ThEm!"

I also find it funny that the concerns of the 2nd wave were Florida, Texas, Arizona, Georgia.

California is arguably doing the worst, right now... and there shutdowns were the most serious. I don't recall hearing much about California during all this.

I think people forget that police officers are actually people and that dozens of them are killed in the line of duty due to felonious acts on an annual basis. Cops aren’t bulletproof. They have parents, spouses, and children. Let’s stop putting them into high tension, high stakes situations. I’m all for a number of different police reforms, but let’s do our part as civilians too. Team effort.

People can't comprehend the data. You see this with COVID too. When you see something like 10 unarmed black people killed by police, and then add up all the interactions police have with black people. That number is so small, it ends up being 0% of unarmed black people are killed by police.

You don't hear about David Dorn, a black man who worked in police for 50 years, shot dead during St. Louis riots. That gets a blip on the news. We saw what happened in that shooting. Yet, the Jacob Blake situation, we don't hear the full story and here we are.

It doesn't add up. None of it does. But, yet again, media controls our lives.

So long as we continue to ignore all of the data and ignore that these are complex issues, progress will never be made. There’s a demand for progress, but it’s based on a false premise, so where do we even start with a solution? That’s what’s so damn frustrating.

Plus people were tuning in to see Biden since he's stuck in his basement.

I'm guessing the locks are on the outside of the doors as well.

It seems Team Rational isn’t a popular free agent destination this year.

I love how everyone crapped on DeSantis but he stuck to his guns and looks like a genius. Disney World, NBA, WWE residency, NFL/NCAA will open to fans, increase tourism and housing market compared to rest of the country.

Meanwhile, the dump that is Washington and Oregon, doesn't even have a plan in place except let Seattle and Portland burn down every night.

They are also going to have about 25000 people at Daytona on Saturday night. He should be commended a lot more than he is. But the media loves Cuomo!

When Basement Joe loses in November, will the Democrats blame the street rioters in swing states?

DeSantis looks like a genius.

This thread has the best takes.

Right now the left are saying the riots are all because of Trump that he's racist and that the real people doing it are plants that are really part of white power groups.
